Are Superhero movies and TV shows a problem in society?

Time Magazine has published an article recently deeming superhero films and TV shows problematic, while citing superheroes as not only glorifying the police too much but citing how they're merely cops with capes.   Although many superheroes have been vilified and chased by the police before like Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man and etc, but let's ignore that right?

    Anyways, here's the article link:

Assuming you read it, what are you're thoughts on the matter?  smile   Are superheroes nothing more than cops with capes and silly costumes?  And if so, then do we need to cancel them too like we already did to shows like "Cops?"   Please discuss.

To be honest, this article is so long and about a topic I don't care too much about that I did not read the whole thing, but I skimmed to the best my ability and would like to add my social commentary because I have strong feelings about Superheroes anyways.

I have always felt, especially as we push onward into the future, that Superheroes have been and are being used to push social agendas that are, by their underlying notions, not as Kosher as they are presented to be. For example, using a Superhero's gender or skin color to press a narrative that creates conflict rather than promotes an inclusive and progressive narrative.

When I see fans and creators discuss things like Supergirl or whatever her name is, and Black Panther, I don't see them discussing how they just wanted a Supergirl and Black Panther. No, instead they had some underlying political motivation and wanted to dig at those they view as oppressors. A bias I think we all have in our creations, but nonetheless becoming more and more prevalent in the Superhero world with increasing social dialogue that deviates from the main themes.

I have found solace in anime due to all the American heroes being tainted with  modern problems, and as such have never taken much interest in Superheroes. Anime has also proven to be a nice respite from my chosen culture which was appropriated by Disney, the "Star Wars" franchise. Where once I wanted to be a Jedi, they have written out or blatantly disregarded the 21,000 years of already-written lore to favor modern social agendas.

So many anime going the way of America's incessant need for social commentary and petty digs, but thankfully it is so diverse that I don't think it can ever be fully appropriated.
