In recent news, Anne Hathaway is now having to apologize for her role as the high grand witch in the Witches remake that came out on HBO Max last month. In the film, her character is the head evil witch, and like the original film, she's essentially a hideous witch disguising herself as a beautiful human woman. When she converts to her "real" form, she turns into a bald headed woman with three fingers on each hand. Apparently, there's a real condition out there that makes it to where some people are born with missing fingers on either one hand or both, which I didn't even know about until now. And because of this little fact, the handicapped community finds the remake of "Witches" to be highly offensive.
What are your thoughts on this? Is the handicapped community right that this is highly offensive, and Anne Hathaway should be forced to apologize for her role in the movie? Or do you think this is a huge overreaction? Please discuss.
We have a tremendous need to "get over ourselves" and quit searching for things to take offense over. Instead, we should strive to understand and accept offense only when it is offered intentionally.
Next thing will be the Montana logo of "Big Sky Country"; offensive to those living on the rainy Oregon coast and to those living amongst the Redwood forest. It's getting that foolish.
