Friday Gridiron
Friday Night lights series
The series NOT the movie
Now this is football I can watch
Friday Night Lights was & still is one of my favorite shows. I thought The fact it came on Friday Nights was a nice way of marketing the show as well, then you can't forget what day it's on, because it says it right there.
I'm not a football fan but I found myself actually cheering, especially during the 'mud bowl'. I own the first through 3rd as well as the fifth & final season (Hey NO Riggins in the 4th or very limited so I don't need it taking up space.)
In the first season we see new Coach (Kyle Chandler) Taylor and his family trying to aclimate themselves to Dillon life and how they treat the football team as if they already are in the NFL. I think it's cool but scary, as that shows there's really nothing to do there.
The Taylor's are like a 'billet' family in a way, even though none of the players actually live with them but in times of need they have helped one play in particular.
Coach is tough but honest and though he's a hard ass he is likable and respectable. Mrs. Taylor at some point becomes the school's student counselor.
The fourth season I remember that there's an upheval by way of the town opening up another school in Dillon (or not far from it). Most of our favorite characters we had come to love are no longer on the show though, I think maybe in the beginning make a cameo or few & there's a whole new cast of students. Aside from that I don't remember much.
The final season is somewhat like a reunion, we get to see most if not all of our favorites come back and have varied storylines that fit.
It's a dramatic show & I think for some would laugh and cry along with the characters. They are well written & multi-layered. I don't remember if it won any awards but I think Best Ensamble cast should have been at least one.
