Haier Flatscreen TV and Computer Monitor

Flo is a "professional student" with degrees in psychology and an associates in computer programming and operations.

I purchased my Haier Slim tv from H.H. Gregg in August of 2014. At the time I thought my landlady/roommate had cable. However, when I got the flat screen home, and my friend and I tried to hook up the tv to the cable outlet, I found out my landlady no longer had cable service. I temporarily set the flat screen television up as the monitor for my computer so I could get use out of it that way until I could afford an antenna or cable. Luckily my friend happened to be an electronics expert and knew what vga cable we needed to connect to the computer.

My Job Performance Improves!

Guess what? The unit as monitor helped a lot in my online job, where I need to see a large display on the screen. I improved my performance significantly. I could see everything I needed on the screen without having to scroll down. So, I improved my performance and my paycheck with the new computer monitor. The drawback was that I had to go to radio shack to get a vga cord to connect the tv as a monitor to my hp computer. The cost of the vga cable added to my investment but I felt vindicated when I noticed my hourly rate improved significantly. Also, I was glad I had an expert as a friend. He knew which cable to buy, and I didn't waste money on something I didn't need.

TV Kicks In and Starts Working!

A couple of weeks later, my friend brought over his antenna that he wasn't using and hooked it up to the flat screen tv. Now I had several stations that I could access without cable - several local channels and public broadcasting stations as well. I thought that was pretty cool. Even though I use computers a lot, the same can not be said for my television usage, understanding or savvy. This was actually the first time I had my own tv that had a remote connected to it. I felt kind of silly about using the remote because I have the tv on my desk. When I want a break from the computer, I put down my mouse, and search frantically for the remote so that I can put the screen on tv instead of vga.

I become a fan.

I am a fan of my my new flat screen television. I have no complaints of it either as a tv or as a computer monitor. It works fine for both. I also feel like I am a little closer to normal now that I have a television after being without one for so many years.I realize some people might say "But tv is going out" but I am like "wow I am normal now, sort of, am I not?" Seriously, I am quite pleased with my purchase, and fully recommend the Haier slim tv as either a television, a computer monitor or a combination there of, should one need to save space.

I can watch online movies and dvd movies too!

I could also watch online tv on the screen quite well. I had to watch "The night of the iguana" for my Treatment Strategies class, and it looked quite good. I liked the movie so much that I bought it, and it looked even better from the dvd drive on my computer with Haier tv screen as the display unit. I feel as if I am starting to catch up on the technology that has been around for awhile but I have not been able to afford.

After Thought

A few days after I had my flat screen monitor/tv working just like I wanted it, I was cleaning and dumped the flat screen on the floor accidentally. The lid popped open. I was not expecting that to happen. I guess they are a little more fragile than I realized and they don't balance as well as the older models.
