Holiday Inn - White Christmas - Bing Crosby
Cover Art of Special Edition
Holiday Inn - White Christmas - Irvin Berlin. Classic stories, classic music. There are so many directions I could go in talking about this album and closely related discussions of late. This is a very good beginning.
A very good place to start. Do you see where this is going?
NBC-TV recently presented a live theatrical musical production of Sound of Music that has set off another round of chatter on social media and elsewhere about production quality, about remakes of past films and productions that won't get out of my head.
Holiday Inn was "an original" - or was it? It is where White Christmas was first performed, I believe. But, then, White Christmas was made and some folks thought that was "the original" or "the best" - and then it was remade - and many others thought that was "the best."
My whole point is that each presentation should live on its own merits - and this movie, "Holiday Inn," certainly did that - in its time. If you have not seen it, I certainly encourage you to get it and view it. I may just become your favorite Holiday movie!
With Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire - not to mention Irving Berlin - you know the music will be outstanding - and it is!
The story is simply fun. Don't try to over-think the story line, just enjoy it as it flows - and the wonderful songs and music that flow from it. I can, and do, watch it over and over. Bing Crosby has been a favorite since I was a kid and we had one of the first television sets in the neighbor... 1950ish. Who doesn't love to watch the moves of Fred Astaire. What more need be said!
Give it a try - you may be surprised how much you will love this movie! ;-)
Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye star...
We love Bing Crosby movies...
I cannot get enough of Bing Crosby - if you agree, here is a little more...
