Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie
Back in 2002 the folks from Big Idea released their first full length movie. Like their other shorter films this one's designed to tell a story and teach kids about the bible. The interesting part of this movie is that there are two stories told at the same time. Both with the same lesson for the kids.
The first story involves the characters of Veggie Tales. The second is the story that's told about Jonah. As you watch the movie the two will intertwine. The two intertwining messages presented are on the menu.
Compassion - you see someone needs help and you help them.
Mercy - Give someone a second chance even if they don't deserve it.
With both of these options that are on the menu both paths of the story are alike. First the Veggie Tales characters Junior Asparagus and Laura the Carrot. Laura lost a ticket that she had won to a concert. At the beginning of the story Junior does not show compassion or mercy towards his friend. It is her responsibility for her own actions. The story that's told to them by the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything is what they needed to hear. This is to help them understand what Compassion and Mercy are. And how all watching can use them. Not just the Veggie Tale characters but by all those watching and learning from what the Pirates are telling.
The story is about Jonah and the message that he needs to deliver to the town of Nineveh and all the people that live there. For the people of Nineveh needed compassion to have the word of God delivered to them. And Jonah had to have mercy to deliver the message even though he felt that they did not deserve it. But because of his compassion and mercy the people of Nineveh listened to what God wanted them to hear.
It was then because of this story that Junior was also able to show compassion toward Laura and understand her loss and how it made her feel. He was then able to show mercy and give her his ticket so that she could see the concert. Even though this would mean that he would not be able to.
So the final question for you... Have you had a time in your life where you were able to show mercy and compassion towards others?
And yes you can get this movie on Amazon. But just so you know I have also seen it at some local stores and on their websites.
A trailer is always a great way to get started with any movie you are about to see. The nice thing about this one is that it follows the movie not just a bunch of the highlights to get you to the theater.
Jonah - The Trailer
If you like music as much as I do then these videos will defiantly help to grab your attention.
If you know me then you know I like pictures and music. Well here is the sound track for this movie. And yes we do own it.
In the belly of a whale you have some time to think. And for me I think that this is my favorite song from this movie. And to think that the ones singing this song are a trio. Its amazing how the presented this song and it was very close to the final cut that is being shown in the movie.
God of Second Chances
Here is the song that helped start it all.
The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything
This song is the one I always think of when this video is brought up.
