Joyful Songs' Music

Updated on August 30, 2017

Music for Fun & Learning!

Music and Music Education are subjects that are dear to me, therefore I enjoy writing about them! Find here a collection of music articles, lesson plans, and units that I have written, plus links and other resources for music education. Find also lots of fun pages about music!

My goals for this webpage are to assist my music students (the ones who come to my studio and the internet ones) in their musical studies, to share many musical interests, exchange ideas with other music educators and music lovers, and to entertain everyone who stops by with something fun about music!

If you have a music link, blog, or site you would like to contribute, please do so in the areas below.

Teachers, students, musicians, and those who love music may want to check out:

~ the music theory section for practice on learning how to read notes and rhythms,

~ information on how and where to find sheet music, both free and for purchase,

~ the instrument families of the orchestra,

~ famous classical composers & popular music artists,

~ links to other music education writers,

~ trusted musical instrument, sheet music, and recording retailers,

~ and lists of music education sites (this will be constantly growing)

Shout for joy

to the LORD,

all the earth.

Worship the LORD

with gladness;

come before him with

joyful songs.

Psalm 100

1: Essentials of Music Theory Software, Version 2.0

I bought this for my children and students several years ago. It has helped them learn and improve their knowledge of basic essential music theory needed for all musicians. With self checking built in, students grade K through adult will enjoy using this software.

Squidoo Music Awards ~ Classical Music

The music unit Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Ballet was featured on the Squidoo Music Blog at Crabbysbeach on January 26, 2010 by music lensmaster Ulla Hennig as part of the "Squidoo Music Awards"!

"Today I present to you an amazing Squidoo lens which combines the focus on Classical Music with the idea to use Squidoo lenses as teaching materials - Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Ballet, created by JoyfulPamela. Actually she has created a whole series of lenses about the Nutcracker Ballet, but I will concentrate on the more general one. It offers loads of information about ballet dancing, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Ballet, about the author of the story, E.T.A. Hoffmann, and of course about the composer, Pjotr Illich Tchaikovsky. I very much enjoyed to browse through the various materials and to learn more about the ballet and his composer." ~ Written by and quoted from Ulla Hennig. Thank you!

Musical Preferences

Which styles of music do you most enjoy? (Please be specific.)

Come, let us sing for joy

to the LORD;

let us shout aloud

to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before him

with thanksgiving

and extol him with music and song.

Psalm 95:1-2

      Music is many things. It makes us joyful, irritated, melancholic, afraid and mad. Music can also be for every one. It invades virtually something and everything. Completely different milieus have their own music to recollect. Numerous races and continents additionally enjoy distinctive music.

      @KarenTBTEN: Thank you, Karen!! I would love to collect music education resources for all ages (my oldest student was 80!) Music does have the power to connect cultures, nationalities, and generations! Thanks for your connections. :D

      Great lens. I'll probably be sending you some sites. I know someone who has done free online music classes aimed at bridging cultures and continents and generational divides-- they're for adults and the elderly, though, not for kids. I know I've got more sites bookmarked somewhere.
