Some Secrets In a Collage
My Wish Collage
Basically, a collage is a beautiful creation of an artistic mind. It is a framed picture of any form, context, colours, shapes and images that convey certain meanings to the creator of this art. The materials vary depending on the availability and the preference of the artist. It can be sophisticatedly and professionally done or it can be as simple as sketches and drawings posted on the wall or any place that can be seen by its maker for certain motives.
A lot of us had been creating collages even when we were children in kindergarten. I particularly loved sketching and drawing and also collecting beautiful and colourful pictures which I cut out from magazines and even books at times; this has been among my favourite hobbies since I was in my earliest grade school and particularly when I was in a certain mood such as anger, loneliness, in a tantrum, scolded by my Dad, being bothered by anything that was beyond my understanding, and most especially when I wanted something but cannot have it at the moment.
I was 15 years old and in my junior high school when I had a crush for the first time with my foreigner classmate, Robert Howard. It was an intense desire to be close to him but since it was a taboo in our culture and in my upbringing to flirt, to show emotions and initiate intimate behaviours to opposite sex, particularly in my age, so I just kept everything to myself; but I did some secrets.
Nobody had told me about collage and I had never heard anything about it; I just did it on my own volition. What I did was I took our class picture and focused on Robert Howard's face then started sketching it. It took me a couple of weeks to create; draw his face, colour it, frame it with my own self-portrait then posted the finished art on my bedroom's wall facing me in my normal place as I lay on my bed; I posted it only when I was fully convinced that I did it perfectly.
At the time when I was creating the collage, my mind and feelings were focused on Robert Howard; All emotions and imaginations worked together including my smiles and laughter and some crazy and funny words that I told myself while in the process of beautifying my art. It was actually fun and exhilarating to engage in my art, not only because of the man in question who was apparently my inspiration at the time but also in the joyful experience in the process of creating.
Who can believe how and why Robert Howard and I turned out to be top in our class that year where we garnered most academic awards; we were also team leaders and partners in most activities in school and everything happened spontaneously, such memories boost my self-esteem even to these days.
The secret? Collage making and collages per se are not only for the eyes they are also for the heart and soul and life as a whole in a certain time and stage in our ife; they are blue prints of your reality and can create miraculous phenomenon in reality...have fun,try it.
