Lainnie (pronounced /Lay knee/) was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and raised in the small, nearby town of Robstown.
Lainnie is of Mexican descent and is the youngest of four sisters.
In addition to English, Lainnie also speaks Spanish; however, she has stated that she isn't fluent.
She attended and graduated from Robstown High School in Robstown, Texas.
Lainnie began acting during her sophmore year when she joined her high school's drama club.
Lainnie graduated from University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Arts.

This is a short film directed by Brian Harris Krinsky that depicts a day in the life of a gay, Latino teen in East Los Angeles. Lainnie (credited as Lainnie Contreras) has a small role as the teen's sister.
Dish made its world premiere at the 2009 Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah and was also in the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany and has many other accolades.
