Oscar-Nominated Jennifer Lawrence Gets The Katniss Everdeen, Hunger Games Role
The hunt for a leading lady to star in "The Hunger Games" is over.
Considering I have read all three books twice and have made close to a dozen friends read them this is quite a big deal for me.
It's undoubtedly true! After months of guesswork and waiting, the 20-year-old has been chosen for the lead role. Lionsgate confirmed that Jennifer Lawrence stars as the heroine in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ trilogy “The Hunger Games”.
The Oscar-nominated "Winter's Bone" star beat out more than 30 actresses, including Hailee Steinfeld and Chloe Moretz, for the coveted role of District 12 tribute Katniss Everdeen.
The actress was said to be excited to play the role of a girl who is sent on a fight-to-death survival contest with other tributes in a TV reality show to save her community.
In addition, it was also confirmed that "Weeds" star Hunter Parrish is in to play the male lead of Peeta Mellark. When E! Online asked Parrish, 23, who he would want as his heroine, the actor mentioned Lawrence first.
Good for Parrish since Lawrence is in for the role. So, I guess this is considered a good circumstance (I wish!) and hope I’ll be looking for a good amount of chemistry on-screen.
I wish them both the best of luck. I am not a casting director so can't pretend to know what they look for in casting this.

The Dismay: A Possible Disaster Movie?
A few people, if not many, agrees that Jennifer Lawrence should be the one casted as the lead for this highly-anticipated movie. They commented to watch Winter's Bone so I will know the reason why she was picked.
They also added that Jennifer is an awesome choice! Also, she already played a “younger than her age role” in Winter's Bone. More conviction? Remember how there was a lot of dispute when Robert Pattinson was cast as Edward in Twilight, and look how that turned out.
But I beg to disagree. Personally, Hailee Steinfeld would've been a much better choice. It seems that Jennifer is way too old for this role since the heroine is a 16-17 year old girl. By the time that film wraps up, Jennifer will be in her mid-20s. Uh-oh. Other than that, I think Hailee will be able to grasp the vulnerability, complexity and depth of Katniss Everedeen’s character. Oh well, regardless of the casting, I’m still excited about this movie. I hope it turns out really good.
I'll throw in a photo below of my choice Hailee Steinfield as well as a picture of Hunter Parrish who will play Peeta Mellark. I think this is a decent choice.
- Reviewing this later, I am actually getting warmed up to Jennifer Lawrence....
