Updated on October 16, 2012

Lee DeWyze - American Idol 2010 Winner, 9th Season

Lee DeWyze, the 9th season winner of American Idol 2010, Mount Prospect, Illinois native, auditioned for the show in Chicago at the United Center on June 22, 2009 after an encouragement from his friend performing the song Ain't No Sunshine. The judges praised Lee for shedding his shy persona throughout the season and showing, with confidence, that he was "in it to win it.

He was one of the two contestant on the show in Season 9 that never landed in Bottom 3. On May 26, DeWyze was crowned the winner of American Idol Season 9 defeating season front-runner, Crystal Bowersox.

Prior to Idol, DeWyze had a solo career released two independent albums called So I'm Told in 2007 and Slumberland in 2010, both on WuLi Records.
