Princess Unikitty from the LEGO Movie

Princess Unikitty of Cloud Cuckoo Land was without a doubt one of the most unique, funniest and entertaining characters introduced in the LEGO Movie. As part unicorn and part animé kitty, she is a unique, Uni-kitty.

She is one very lucky character because she rules over that magical land that many of us have wanted to live in at some point in time—the land of rainbows, puppies and sunshine, where everyone is happy, most of the time.

She is also very funny because of the different facets of her personality (happy, cheery & bubbly, business & astronaut—smarts, anger and sick or queasy) that emerge throughout the movie. It is quite amusing to watch her attempts to keep her inner Angry Kitty (anger) suppressed since she is supposed to be cheerful, a situation many women can recognize.

We hadn't planned on seeing the LEGO Movie. After all who wants to see a movie about LEGO's with tween and teenage girls. We ended up watching the movie and to our surprise enjoyed it enough to see it again.

If you haven't seen the movie, I would highly recommend it as a fun, family film. The LEGO movie also has a good message for parents in particular to take to heart on how to nurture our children.

Since seeing the movie I have been looking for Uni-kitty gifts for my tween age daughter, especially the Angry kitty. There are plenty of LEGO Movie building sets, but fewer products (like shirts and plush stuffed toys) with just the unicorn kitty. I've included what I can find on this page.

It looks like it may be another one of those areas that the marketing people misjudged the popularity of certain characters, in this case, not recognizing how popular a unicorn animé cat would be with girls watching the movie. I think we'll see more items in time for the holiday shopping season.

The official LEGO site describes her character as "half unicorn, half animé kitten" and from a land of rainbows, puppies and one endless dance party.

In this official clip from the LEGO Movie, we first are introduced to Princess of Cloud Cuckoo Land. Then in a fan based video clip, you can see the best moments of the unicorn kitty.

After seeing the movie, I went in search of official LEGO products to get my daughters, especially the younger one who related to the unicorn kitty.

As of now there are several different official Uni-kitty products available and many more unofficial ones (t-shirts) created by fans. My hunch is that with the unexpected popularity of the character, more coming, probably in time for the holiday season.

Many people would like to see a complete set of the Unikitties as well as a plush, squish-able version. Hopefully the product designers are listening and create more fun products.
