Music For The Art Of Creating
The Music That I Listen To While Creating Art
As a painter I understand the importance of creating a space specifically to facilitate the creative process. You need an area that is well lit, climate controlled, filled with all your favorite artsy stuffs and when you are finished, you can leave your art and materials set out so they are ready to go just as soon as you are.
Music for me is as much an integral pert of my creative space as all the rest. It helps set the mood and quiet the mind. It helps to calm and focus me and sometimes it helps me to tap into the creative force that drives us all to create. Since this is an important function for any artist, I thought I'd dedicate a lens to the music that does this best for me.
"Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story." -HOMER What all of these cd's have in common is that they are primarily musical with very little in the way of a story. Even the artists such as Enya who are all vocals, have such an ethereal quality that my mind is not following the tune or the words but just letting it become a relaxing background. The spiritual substance on which I can create.
All of the musical artists and cd's listed on this lens are actually part of my music library that I listen to when I'm painting.
Robert Vavra's Horses Of The Wind
This is my usual for whenever working on horse paintings. The cd is a musical celebration of horse where the actual voices of stallions, mares and foals are included into the soundtrack.

Invoking The Muse by Layne Redmond
Yeah, this one seems like the obvious choice for music to create by. Greek inspired, Layne Redmond created this collection of hymns in tribute to the nine Muses. It is absolutely lovely.
Enya - Paint The Sky With Stars: The best of Enya
I have many Enya cd's. Her ethereal voice and music is so soft and lovely. I tend to just stick in a cd and have it run on a continuous loop while working on a painting.

NIYAZ
I actually first heard Niyaz playing in a store in a mall. The haunting lyrics grabbed my attention and I asked the the clerk about the music and then promptly bought it. This is one of my favorites by far.

Yo-Yo Ma
I love his deep soulful sound. In regards to painting with it he occasionally does some very dramatic music which can pull me out of my trance like state when painting. But sometimes that's okay too.

Trance: Authentic Trance Music From Sacred Traditions
This is a box set of various musical traditions. It includes Sufi dervish, Tibetan chant and Indian dhrupad. As well as Moraccan, Balinese, and zen. This is kind of a nice world view on hypnotic and trance musical meditations.
The Mists Of Avalon Soundtrack - A Beautiful And Haunting Soundtrack.
When I watched the mini-series The Mists Of Avalon there were several instances where the music just gave me chills. A sure sign that it speaks to the soul. SO I promptly went out and bought the soundtrack. This is also one the I play a lot of when I'm painting.

Greetings,
My name is Mona Majorowicz I am a professional artist who has been making my living selling my work for some time now. I have been in the art and framing industry for over 20 years. I am an animal artist, (meaning I paint critters) who works primarily in Oil Pastel or Water Soluble Pencil.
I own and operate Wild Faces Gallery with my husband Mike in a small rural town in Iowa. There we sell my original artwork and prints, as well as do quality custom framing and offer Giclee printing for other artists as well as for ourselves
I maintain a blog called Fur In The Paint, as well as write a regular column for Apples 'N Oats (an equestrian magazine) about painting horses.
Animals are my passion and art is how I chose to express it.
