Music from Ghostbusters the Movie
First things first. I still have this on cassette. Not CD or MP3. Yes world I am showing my age again. And no kids it is not on 8-Track like some of my other music.
A flash to the past:
Here is where I get to take you back a few years. Like into the 80's when I was still in college and had a Walkman that played my cassettes for me. The nice thing was it had the ability of continuous play which meant I did not have to flip the tape to continue listening. The down side to this is that I would fall asleep and the batteries would burn out on a regular basis. In the good news the roommate would come in and sometimes turn it off. Or crank up the volume to get me to do it. For me this was a whole semester long thing. Meaning every night I would go to sleep listening to it. My MP3 player will turn off after a half hour. Why not the Walkman? Oh well...
The music
First of all the same roommate and I were on the college radio station. This meant back then I could queue up my cassettes and play the songs I wanted. In this case it was track # 5 I Can Wait Forever by Air Supply. Probably my favorite of all the songs from the Ghostbuster Sound Track. I admit that the title song Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr got more air time, but not on my show. And since I was the one opening on Saturday's mornings what I wanted to play was my choice. I would sometimes get requests but again it was my call on when the songs played. And just using a short sound bite of "Who ya gonna call" was a lead into, "The lines are open call in and make a request!" The second radio station I worked at did not have a cassette player ready so no more using my own cassettes. They still had the turn tables so I was able to bring my 45's and play them. But still a loss of great music to share.
Its interesting how you don't tend to listen to some songs until you find your old collection. So knowing that these are from the 80's I am suggesting that all you go and check your collections or your parents collections. Actually go check any that you can get your hands on and pull out the older music. You maybe surprised at what you hear. Trust me our middle child has taken a liking to Frank Sinatra that he found at a local thrift store.

Ghostbusters No Ghost Logo Mug
I myself tend to drink tea or cocoa while listening to music. This somehow fits nicely with that, don't you think?
