Updated on August 23, 2017

Tom and Jerry, an exclusive cartoon show!

Tom and Jerry cartoon show can win Oscar. Could you believe that? Well, this cartoon show is seen as one of the popular cartoon shows in the world. Kids and adults all are fond of Tom and Jerry cartoon show. I am not different as well, I used to watch it, and I still watch it. Just it is great to watch the rivalry actions between Tom and Jerry.

The first short of this cartoon show was Puss Gets the Boot, though in this cartoon Tom appears as Jasper cat and Jerry as Jinx. William Hanna and Joseph Barbera both directed and wrote the first cartoon show. They are the creators of Tom and Jerry. I thank you all who have worked hard for creating this amazing cartoon show.

The Yankee Doodle Mouse (1943)

The Yankee Doodle Mouse - a series of Tom and Jerry cartoon - won Oscar for the first time in the history. It was a one reel animated film, produced by Fred Quimby, written and directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in 1943. The soundtracks on The Yankee Doodle Mouse cartoon are amazing and I think these soundtracks are the best soundtracks ever produced in Tom and Jerry cartoons show. It has a great story and animation is very good as well as musical sounds.

As usual, Tom and Jerry chase each other in a pseudo-warfare style and use the World War II technology such as Hen-Grenade, Jeeps, Dynamite, Parachutes and Rockets. Remember, it was the time of World War II and really William Hanna and Joseph Barbera tried to focus on that in their cartoon show.

While Tom (the cat) pursues Jerry (the mouse) he fails, and Jerry enters his mouse hole at once. Many war actions can be seen here like Jerry once throws eggs to Tom. What does it mean to you? It is like Jerry is throwing Han-Grenade! Tom wears helmet like a soldier and throws a dynamite to blow up Jerry but immediately Jerry throws it back to Tom. Tom attacks on Jerry with a dirt gun; this is how everything goes between these two guys. At the end Tom finds an ignited rocket and ties Jerry with it but unfortunately Tom suffers. This is a really nice cartoon and it deserves Oscar for the funny story.

Mouse Trouble (1944)

Tom gets a book called "How to catch a mouse" and he uses the book's advices in order to catch Jerry. In the book, each chapter has different style of strategy of catching mouse. He applies one by one but fails all the time. This is a really funny cartoon with good musical sounds that was released November 23, in 1944, produced by Fred Quimby.

This is the one that won Oscar from the Tom and Jerry Cartoon shorts. The first step on the book is "locate the mouse first", it is funny when Tom starts locating Jerry, and he looks like a doctor! There are many techniques Tom uses to trap Jerry like snare trap, being scientific, basic trap, mountain of explosives, mallet, bear trap, double-barreled shotgun.

Tom's one of the attempts is to guffaw while reading the book but again Tom fails and Jerry punches him on the eye! Oh, it is painful for Tom! Other time Tom attempts to catch Jerry by applying a bear trap and Tom sticks it inside Jerry's mouse hole, clever Jerry then walks outside the hole and places the trap behind Tom. Once Tom sits down, the trap triggers and it sends him to roof with a lot of pain.

Then Tom uses a mallet to hit Jerry but result is still the same, Jerry hits him in the end! Tom constantly applies the advices and tips that he gets from the book such as presenting box and toy mouse technique but all techniques result come negatively to Tom. Tom tries every time to trap Jerry and every time there is no positive outcome of all trap techniques.

Quiet Please (1945)

Quiet please, well I am not telling you to be quiet! Quite please Tom! Otherwise something bad is going to be happened to you. Quite Please is an animated Tom and Jerry cartoon, produced in 1945 by Fred Quimby. This is one of the Oscars winning cartoons, a very nice and funny one. Actually family bulldog wants to take nap and says Tom not to make any noise so that he can take a good nap. Spike the bulldog warns Tom but Tom occasionally chases Jerry and makes noise. Three characters, Tom, Jerry and Spike (dog) make mess in the house.

Once Tom is chasing Jerry with a frying pan but Tom hits Spike three times. Spike gets annoyed of what Tom is doing during chasing Jerry. Again, Tom is going to hit Jerry with back part of an Axe, suddenly Jerry dodges his swings and Tom hits Spike by missing the hit. Spike is now very annoyed and warns Tom that if he hears any noise then it will be a nightmare for Tom.

Tom is singing right now to send the dog back to sleep and his time has come to pour entire bottle of "Knock-Out Drops" into Spike's mouth so that Spike would remain sleeping for a long time. Jerry intends to place a huge dynamite underneath Spike. Situation goes wrong now for Tom - the dynamite explodes. However, this cartoon is energetic and good to watch for kids; you would not be bored to watch the actions again. Though I feel sorry for Tom, he tries again and again but fails.

The Cat Concerto (1947)

The Cat Concerto had been awarded as the best animated short film in the Oscar. This Tom and Jerry cartoon brought fourth consecutive winning record in Oscar at best animated short film category. Music is the power of making a good film, this cartoon proves it again.

The Cat Concerto is a musical-based cartoon short where innocent Tom has to suffer from naughty Jerry. On this cartoon, Jerry is the one who disturbs performer Tom. Here Tom is a piano virtuoso. Tom starts playing the piano while Jerry is sleeping inside the piano and he wakes up at once hearing the sound of the piano. Jerry gets annoyed! It is time to have fight again.

While playing the theme of the Hungarian rhapsody Tom shames Jerry under the keys of piano. Tom's main purpose is to continue his piano playing without making any mess with Jerry. Tom is a good performer because he plays with his feet not by only hands when Jerry is disrupting him. Even though, after having trouble with Tom, Jerry gets all the applause and credits from audience. Bad luck to you Tom! Please, watch this cartoon to feel the musical sounds, they are great.

The Little Orphan (1949)

The Little Orphan was filmed in 1949 as animated short cartoon. Again this Tom and Jerry cartoon won Oscar award. You are going to laugh when you see the action of little mouse called Nibbles. He is an orphan mouse who wants to eat so he comes and shows a note "always hungry" to Jerry to feed him up.

Little mouse is sent to Jerry for spending time on Thanksgiving. Jerry is to feed the little mouse, on the other hand, while Tom is sleeping, he takes Nibbles to Tom's milk bowl and lets Nibbles drink the milk from it. Then they see many foods on the table and Jerry allows Nibbles to eat but suddenly he swallows a whole orange and that is the reason to wake up Tom finally.

Tom dresses like Red Indian, it is funny to watch him now. Jerry at once smacks him with a spoon and orange comes out from mouth and flies right into Tom's mouth. Chasing starts again between two groups - cat and mice. Tom has to surrender by the little mouse (Nibbles), he is really cunning and finally they all sit for having turkey together but Nibbles eats the whole turkey before Tom and Jerry get their parts.

The Two Mouseketeers (1952)

The Two Mouseketeers is an Oscar winning cartoon, directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in 1951. Tom, Jerry and Nibbles are in France now; the plot is set in 18th century. Jerry and Nibbles are swordsmen while Tom is a soldier. Tom is ordered to guard a banquet table, which is laid with many foods, and drinks. If Tom fails to defend all these delicious foods then he will be executed.

Jerry and Nibbles enter in the hall to finish all the foods. While Nibbles is eating some food from the table, Tom pokes him with his sword. This is not the end - Jerry comes out and rescues Nibbles at that time. Now Tom is ready to take a challenge and now he is very active. After a while Nibbles throws an axe to Tom and that slices off half of tom's back. Then Nibbles runs away and falls into a drink. Nibbles gets drunk and unconsciously hits Tom on the bottom. However, Nibbles waves his sword then runs away from Tom's hand but Tom catches him. Seeing that, Jerry again comes to rescue Nibbles and hits Tom forcefully. They start a swords fight on the table. I feel sorry now, because Tom always loses and Jerry wins. Why such happens? Do you have got any idea?!

Finally, this Tom and Jerry cartoon shorts also won Oscar and it is the last one so far that Tom and Jerry cartoon shorts won their last Academy award. Johann Mouse released in 1953, on a March 21. This is a very funny cartoon show, with an excellent artwork and it is worth watching for people of all ages.

Tom and Jerry are now in Austria, the capital city of Vienna, at Johann Strauss house. Jerry dances when Johann Strauss plays his piano. When Jerry dances Tom tries to catch him but he fails every time he tries, bad luck for Tom! One day, Johann Strauss goes away from home and Tom decides this is the time he may catch the mouse. Then he quickly learns piano and starts playing it. It works, at once Jerry comes out from his mouse hole and start dancing beautifully. But Jerry never knows, what's going to happen next.

Tom knows he is about to catch the mouse (little Johann/Jerry), suddenly Tom squashes Johann with a poker and at once Jerry/Johann stops dancing and gets back to his hole. Johann Strauss's servants listen to beautiful piano play; even though he knows his Master is away from home, Jerry again comes out while Tom is playing again and Tom grabs him with his hands and then master servants applaud. That news spreads all over Vienna, they are invited to play their roles as pianist and dancer. Jerry starts waltzing and his partner is Tom's finger. This is a very good cartoon film and that's why it won Oscar.
