Solange-True(EP Review)

Updated on January 10, 2013

True is the first EP and latest body of work from R&B artist Solange Knowles. The seven track EP is her first record released on the Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor’s independent label Terrible Records and the switch from major label to independent has made a definite impact on the music we’re now hearing from Solange at this point in her career. The tracks on here have a indie-pop/R&B mix. Solange also bring things like new wave and dance pop influences and much improved vocal performance from her earlier work. A big plus about this EP is is it’s not sorely overproduced and comes off like a breath of fresh dance pop and r&b. This is most definitely an EP worth checking out and it leaves me intrigued with how here next full length LP will turn out.
