Synth Single Review: “Abandoned Horizon’’ by Lightracer

Abandoned Horizon by Lightracer, released 13 September 2025
Lightracer’s Abandoned Horizon illustrates a dilapidated futuristic city. The track begins with a rapidly shimmering synth that moves across a gruff background, creating a sense of futuristic energy contrasting with decay. Rising tones flash sequenced light that infuses the broken landscape before a synth carries a melody which mingles a groovy sensibility with spectral sensations.
As bass seethes, the percussion flatly pulses while the lead synth trumpets, carrying a melody that is triumphant and strangely twisted, reflecting the shattered towers of a city that once surged with life. The tempo picks up as a rounded synth bubbles, sparkling like sunlight on a pool of oily water. The low supports are powerfully muscled while swirling notes are joined by a slashing guitar.
The main melody is carried on notes that bend out with victory and loss mingled into one complex whole. I enjoy the journey upon which I am taken, through the jagged towers and broken pavement of a once-great metropolis.
Incandescent notes shine and the guitar lacerates, reflecting the shadowy sensations rising from images of empty buildings and dark alleyways. Gigantic percussion throbs with dominant strength and the lead synth limns ghostly presences and broken places before the track ends.
