Synth Single Review: “Anymore’’ by Electric Sol
Electric Sol’s Anymore examines a fading relationship as it unfolds. Heavily throbbing drums move along with active piano chords that create strong motion. The bass pulses and now Ed Sweet’s voice carries a melody with passion and a sense of loss. The powerfully driving low end supports the emotive vocals effectively.
Ed Sweet and Lindsey Bair’s voices have superb chemistry, weaving together above the disco inspired beat. Quickly flitting, hollow notes tumble past and vibrating synth trembles out through the music. This song has an undeniable groove as smoothly entwining synth dances past. Ed Sweet’s vocals capture the hope still remaining in the words.
The disco beat adds a danceable quality to the music as the two singers' voices mingle expressively. Glittering notes flick past and the low end pushes forward, all of the musical elements creating energy. Warm chords shift in the background as Ed Sweet and Lindsey Bair's voices ring out. The song ends on popping, digital-sounding notes flowing into piano chords and out into silence.
The narrator says that he doesn't like what he sees because it's “you without me.” He goes on to say that there's something missing because he and the song’s subject aren't holding hands or kissing any more. He adds that it isn't easy to be “so completely incomplete.” He points out that his life is falling apart and his friends don't ask how the other person is doing any longer.
Our storyteller says that he thought their love was always meant to be and would “stand the test of time through eternity.” He realizes that it takes work to keep a relationship going but instead he “chose to sit back and watch ours die.” He wonders if he can hold the other person again or if they could at least start over again as friends. He concludes by saying that he'll “bloom where I am planted” and never take the other person for granted again.
