Synth Single Review: “Ascensia’’ by Skylane Drive
Skylane Drive’s Ascensia erupts with feelings of fear and massive power. The track opens as surging notes cry out with eerie dynamism while an echoing voice adds an unsettling feeling. The rhythm explodes with fierce strength as rapidly vibrating notes create unease and the bass lacerates with jagged edges.
The drums are unstoppable while the elevated rhythm cries out, vocal sounds drifting full of ominous energy and barely concealed animosity. Undulating notes slash while the raging drums batter and the main melody howls again, radiating haunting strength. I find myself glancing around, waiting for the danger to strike.
After the drums drop away, hissing sounds float and a distantly gliding synth flickers past. The bass is full of Stygian weight and swirling sounds twist. Once again, the angry rhythm smashes with great force and the trembling notes move along with the synth, shredding through the music while the ghostly high tones drift and silence falls.
