Synth Single Review: “Chronic’’ by Kraver & Leo Golo
Kraver & Leo Golo’s Chronic discusses a complicated mix of desire and pain. Far away, sparkling sounds slide with sun-warmed brightness, woven by Kraver. Leo Golo’s honeyed voice carries a melody that blends struggle and affection.
The rhythm has a rebounding force that supports Leo Golo’s gripping performance while the bass moves with tidal energy. As the chorus erupts with solar luminosity, the drums add form. The vocals capture an undeniable craving that touches me.
Leo Golo’s voice levitates, underlying bass strength rises and delicate notes glow crimson and gold. The chorus sails out with rising illumination, as radiant as a summer day, while the rhythmic pattern below drives on.
Widely singing, sharp-edged synth carries the melody, alive with aching desire, while the undulating low end surges. The track ends on fading vocals and a breathy exhalation.
The way in which the song’s subject is trapped in the storyteller’s veins is chronic and he “can’t make it fade.” He tried to deny it and forget it, but that was impossible. He says, “We’re a disaster but I can’t get enough of you,” and despite the fact that he’s drowning, “still somehow I reach for you.”
No matter where he looks, he swears it’s true that the song’s subject keeps coming through and “I keep falling.” He realizes he’s playing a losing game and knows the other person takes him for a fool as he adds, “Should’ve known with you that I keep falling.”
Now the storyteller has the other person “stuck on my heart,” but he can’t find a cure for it. He can’t rip it apart, and though he tried to quit, “this love is chronic.” He tried to get away from it as he “blocked your name and turned the key,” but he discovers that “every ending still finds its way back to me.”
