Synth Single Review: “Midnight Tide’’ by Rogue VHS & Mellow Fields
Rogue VHS & Mellow Fields’ Midnight Tide is a calming, layered journey through aquatic relaxation. The track starts as waves wash and silky, echoing synths lap in tidal motion. Brassy notes ring out with a caressing, uplifting feeling as the solidly punching drums and lush bass add shape.
A delicately drifting synth veil through the music slips with fragility above the guiding low end. Trumpeting notes call out with radiant luminosity as the rounded, pulsing notes below join the sharp snare drum and solid bass. Glimmering notes hover above the music, moving in a dancing melody. Now the track drifts as the waves wash and crystalline notes sparkle while the drums are muffled.
There’s a percussion flourish, and the low end drives in again while wandering notes sail out with oceanic calm. A peaceful tide surrounds me, and I move on its cool blue surface with the music. A glittering synth rises with effulgent light, and the waves flow. The low end adds motion while the melody shines with tender light, and silence falls.
