Synth Single Review: “Starlight’’ by Rogue VHS & ClinTone
Rogue VHS & ClinTone’s Starlight mingles tenderness and motion as it unfolds. The track begins as delicate, descending notes flit through a misty pastel background. Airy sounds glide as shimmering, broad-sounding synth carries tender notes. Arpeggios smoothly slip through the music, as gleaming notes rise through pink clouds.
I exhale and feel tension leave my body as brightly twirling arpeggios are joined by slowly pulsating drums and lush bass. A fragile, breathing sound drifts in the background and scintillating notes slide through the music with caressing motion. The drums and bass have a solid throb that shapes the otherwise ethereal music. The lead synth’s radiance imbues the melody with a crystalline glow.
This is music that enfolds the listener on a tranquil tide. Luminous notes float before the drums and bass return to move the music forward. Slowly revolving arpeggios spin through the track beneath the lightly touching melody that gently cradles the listener. The more defined low end contrasts with the gentleness of the elevated notes as the track fades into silence.
