The first time I watched it

The first time I watched the movie taken was on a bus ride to Manila. My bestfriend and I were going to visit her family who lives in Caloocan City. From my place in Tarlac City, it would take around 2.5 hours to reach Caloocan. On the first half of our journey, the driver decided to just play the bus radio for all the passengers who cared to listen to the music. It was only on the second half of the bus ride when the bus conductor decided to play DVD copy of the movie. Sad to say, we were not able to finish watching the movie for we have already reached our destination. Good thing we remembered the title of the movie. We were able to watch it via the internet the first chance we had upon coming back home.

The Movie

Liam Neeson plays the role of Bryan Mills in the action-crime movie entitled Taken. Bryan is a divorced ex-CIA agent who is now living alone and wanted to be close to his daughter Kim (played by Maggie Grace). On her seventeenth birthday, Bryan gifted her a mini karaoke machine thinking that his daughter still wanted to be a singer, while a pony is what the rich step-dad gave the birthday celebrant as a gift which excites the girl very much, leaving Bryan and his karaoke gift. Bryan then left the party feeling somewhat worthless.

Then Kim asked Bryan to allow her to spend a vacation in Europe with a girlfriend. At first Bryan does not want to give her his permission but reluctantly gave it in the end for fear that if he would disagree, the more his daughter would feel more resentful towards him. Upon arriving in Paris, an Albanian syndicate which kidnaps young female tourists kidnapped Kim and her friend to be sold as sex-slaves. Bryan only has 4 days to get back his daughter or he will no longer be able to see her. So Bryan sets off and goes to Paris to chase his daughter's kidnappers. What follows next is a straight to the point, fast-paced action scenes.

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

— Bryan Mills to Kim's kidnapper

Made me a fan

I was completely taken away by this movie, the love a father have for his daughter, and what he was able to do to save his child. After watching this movie, I have become a Liam Neeson fan and went on to watch its sequel Taken 2 and also his other movies like the Unknown and The A-Team wherein he played the role of Hannibal. Of course I was not disappointed by Taken 2. Here it was Liam and his wife who gets kidnapped. Now I am waiting for the 3rd sequel of Taken. I read in the internet that Liam agreed to do Taken 3 as long as no one gets taken.
