Terror Tuesday: Prom Night III- The Last Kiss (1990)
Why?
That's the question I kept asking myself as I wasted about an hour and a half of my life, and I can never get it back.
There's a lot of questions that aren't answered in this direct sequel to Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II and there were so many times that I wanted to walk away from this mess.
Starting with Mary Lou's grave exploding (remember her grave exploded at the end of part two) her spirit races through the hallways of Hamilton High as janitor Jack (Terry Doyle) takes a nip of alcohol from his dirty water bucket.
He's drawn into the basement where a jukebox plays a song from his time as a student in 1957. When he hears Mary Lou's (Courtney Taylor) seductive voice, he remembers the prom and whatever he and Mary Lou had, but she kills him.
The next day, the new gym is being dedicated after being remodeled following a fire (obviously the aftermath of the 1987 prom events) and when Mr. Weatherall (Roger Dunn) cuts the ribbon, he also cuts off his finger, as the doors open with a gust of wind.
All American boy Alex Grey (Tim Conlon) is in a conundrum when it comes to his best friend Shane (David Stratton) and girlfriend Sarah (Cyndy Preston).
Sarah wants him to come to her farm for the summer and Shane wants him to hop on a motorcycle and go cross country, so he tells each of them that he's going to do what they want.
But after a meeting with guidance counselor Miss Richards (Lesley Kelly) she tells him that his grades weren't good enough for him to get into medical school. She mocks him regarding his grades and tells him that he can be a burger flipper for the rest of his life.
Alex, now depressed, can't concentrate and nearly forgets about his romantic candlelight dinner with Sarah. They do have their dinner in his car with candles on the dashboard and burgers.
Following an argument, he drops her off and goes back to school since he forgot some of his books (when I was in school, I don't remember being able to walk right into school at night) and he runs into Mary Lou.
After a tryst on the floor, he wakes up just as school starts wearing only the flag.
Still not being able to concentrate, he can't concentrate on his final in biology and fails, but while Mr. Walker (George Chuvalo) is grading it, the answers appear, and he gets an A on the test. Later, he has an encounter with Maryl Lou as she's dressed as a waitress in a 1950's diner and of course kills him.
Alex finds himself back at school and Mary Lou shows him the body and tells him that he has to get rid of it, so, he buries it on the football field.
They have sex again and he tells her that she needs to stop killing people, but that request falls on deaf ears as she sets her sight on Miss Richards.
Miss Richards goes searching for Walker when she sees her computer screen make changes showing Alex as the top scholar in the school. He's also riding high on making the winning touchdown at the football game.
And while Sarah has broken up with him, he asks her again to the "inaugural prom" but she's already been asked (and debating) on going with Leonard (Jeremy Ratchford).
As Alex is burying Miss Richards in the now football field cemetery, he's confronted by football captain Andrew Douglas (Dylan Neal) and of course he joins the other bodies after Mary Lou throws him a killer pass.
Mary Lou pops up everywhere and Alex tells Shane what's happening, so he suggests that they leave on their road trip now. He leaves Alex by the pool and as he comes back into the house, Alex's sister Leah (Juno Mills Cockell) comes over and seduces him. Of course, it's not Leah, but Mary Lou.
Alex runs out of Shane's house, holes himself up at his house and has a shootout with police before being arrested.
The movie then shifts to the prom, and this is the lamest prom ever. I can only say that the extras make this look like a zombie prom, before the actual zombie prom that Mary Lou takes Alex to, along with those that she's killed.
By this time, I was so disconnected from the movie that I was trying to answer the following questions:
Is this the Fall of 1987? (the trees are changing colors)
If it is Fall, wouldn't they be having Homecoming instead of prom?
Is this a comedy?
Why didn't the original Mary Lou reprise her role?
How could Shane's parents identify Alex as his killer, when he's wearing all black and how did they know there was blood on his glove, when they passed each other-they in their car and he on a motorcycle?
When will this movie end?
Those were the questions I had and if you know the answers, please feel free to comment!
