The Big Bang Theory is one of the Smartest Shows on Television
I didn't always watch The Big Bang Theory. For a few years, I would see it on the cable box guide, but I never gave it much thought. It wasn't until my sister made my parents watch it that I really took notice. I tried it out for a couple of episodes and before I knew it, I was hooked.
By now, The Big Bang Theory was in it's fourth season, but it wasn't too hard to catch up. The Comedy Network ran marathons on holidays, so I was able to watch most of the older episodes very quickly. The only problem with that, of course, was that it monopolized my time. But, it's not such a bad way to spend the holidays!
One of the things I love most about the show is the "nerd" jokes. I grew up watching Star Trek, so the many Star Trek jokes always make me laugh. The cameo appearances by several Star Trek actors are a fantastic bonus, too. Some of the other references are a bit outside my knowledge, but I've seen enough superhero movies and been on enough message boards to appreciate most of them. The show doesn't talk down to its audience. The more you know about science and science fiction, the funnier the show is. However, you can still enjoy it even if you don't get every joke. The chemistry between the characters is fantastic, especially when Amy (who is probably my favorite character) and Bernadette are introduced to round out the show.
If you're no already watching The Big Bang Theory, what are you waiting for? Its one of the smartest shows on television and definitely one I look forward to every week.
