Who Doesn't Love The Lion King?

In 1994, I was fourteen years old, which as anyone who has been fourteen can tell you is an awkward age. I wasn't quite ready to be an adult, but I certainly wasn't a little kid either. However, when the Lion King was released by Disney, I couldn't resist watching it.

The Most Watched DVD in my Personal Collection

I loved The Lion King from the moment it hit the big screen and have owned the movie on VHS, DVD, and now Blue-ray too. In fact, I plan to watch this movie with my grandchildren someday, so I will probably end up owning it on whatever technology it becomes available on.

Why I Love the Lion King

This movie is still popular 20 years after its initial release because it is magical. It features everything that makes a movie fantastic, the characters, singing, and real-life problems in this film allow it to appeal to viewers of all ages. Kids and adults are entertained at the same time, which makes spending family time together extremely enjoyable.

My Favorite Characters have Changed through the Years

When I first watched this movie, Timon (Nathan Lane) and Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella) were my favorite characters. The combination of a comical meerkat and a wart hog is a fun friendship to watch and has entertained me for years. Now, that I am a mother, one of my favorite characters is King Mufasa (James Earl Jones). Naturally, I relate to King Mufasa because of his parenting style. He is willing to do whatever he has to in order to raise Simba (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) right.

If you are looking for a movie that the whole family can watch together, you can't go wrong when you choose my favorite movie, and one of the best films ever created by Disney - The Lion King.

What do you think about The Lion King Sequels?

Since it's initial release, there have been several Lion King sequels released. In general, I'm not a fan of sequels, prequels, or any other additional releases. The Lion King is amazing. The sequels, cartoons, spinoffs, etc., are good too, but nothing will ever be as fantastic as the original.

What do you think about additional releases. Are you a fan? Do you mind sequels, or do you just wish they'd leave good enough alone. Tell me how you feel about it in the comments below.
