The Savages Movie 2007 Short Review

Plot:

This story is about a savage family lead by Leonard (the father) and Jon played by Philip Seymour Hoffman and Wendy by Laura Linny. It starts with Leonard's kids getting the news about their father writing on the wall with his own shit and his girlfriend of 20 years death. His children set off to meet him to be with him in that moment of grief but what happens next leaves them a bit cold and in the process also helps them know each other better.

My Verdict:

It’s a perfect plot for a dysfunctional family to come together and understand each other in this journey and it does exploit that fact but also serves up with some genuinely original moments. Laura Linny is without doubt one of the reasons for watching this film, as she is simply amazing in her character who feels guilty about things she has done in her life and therefore wants her father not to suffer more even if he never cared about them.

Watch this movie if you like watching dark-depressing comedy and if you are a fan of Laura Linny.

My rating: 8.1/10

Quatre cents coups Les (400 Blows) –1959 Movie Short Review

Francois Truffaut's screenplay is outstanding and never lets audience lose hold of the character even if the story is simplistic. One of the reasons this film works is due to its simple story and the characters for which we care for throughout the journey. The story is about a boy who hates going to school because one of his teachers always treats him very badly. Now he thought the only way to escape this torture is by bunking school. What he does while bunking and his parent’s reaction to it follows next. As I said above, the story looks very simple but the screenplay actually manages to let you in the boy’s head. You could actually feel his confused state. I loved this film and would highly recommend it to all.

The Royal Tenenbaums Movie 2001 Short Review

Plot:

This movie is about a Tenenbaum's family who get together due to their dad that is Royal Tenenbaum who is claiming to die in 6 weeks because of Henry's (Danny Glover) closeness to Royal’s wife with whom he has not talked for seven years. What happens next is a situation where Royal and Royal’s sons get to know more about each other.

My Verdict:

Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums starts off badly and it can turn off viewers in the starting due to this movie’s constant commentary on various characters whom we will expect to unfold naturally and slowly as the story unfolds, but as the second chapter of this movie gets over the plot, it gets a new leash of life with fresh start and it works up its magic on the viewers. You will begin to love, appreciate, hate, and think along with the characters which is why Royal Tenenbaums has worked for me.

There are many scenes which are quite original and at the same time will manage to bring out something special, especially the hate-love relationship between the Royal and Chaz which is so beautifully captured at the end.

Royal Tenenbaums is a must-watch family comedy and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a family comedy fan.

13 Tzameti 2005 Movie Short Review

13 Tzameti manages to hold you throughout the length but as it unfolds, you begin to realize that there is no character to connect with and as a result, you will love this film if you watch it once. There is nothing new in the plot and the use of black and white effect is also a huge turn off too. I don’t know why it was so highly recommended by many, maybe because it is a foreign film, but I must tell you this is just an average thriller so don’t go expecting something phenomenal.

Blue Velvet 1986 Movie Short Review

I do not have words to describe this outstanding movie. In the true David Lynch’s style, this movie is dark, controversial, disturbing, but at the end, he is able to bring out underlying positive message as if it what is supposed to be a feel good movie and it is simply unbelievable.

Also, a love story that runs parallel to the main plot involves some really disturbing scenes and it comes out in the purest form as if it was actually a romantic movie and this again shocks me up and for that reason alone, I can say that David Lynch is truly a master director who has come up with such a cinematic masterpiece as in this outstanding movie.

You will regret if you will not watch this film.

Heavenly Creatures 1994 movie short review

This movie happens to be Kate Winslet's first film and she is just plain awesome, not only she looks really beautiful and sexy but kind of screen presence she has is really phenomenal. This movie moves to the next level just due to her. The story of this film revolves around 2 brilliantly creative kids who open up a door in heaven just to get away from their respective parents and live a life where their imagination can run wild. Their parents get envious due to their extreme closeness, as you can see it is a film about friendship but if you watch it deeply, you will realize there is more to it in the bottom line than what appears to be on the surface.

This is a brilliant film, which I would recommend to all sexy Kate Winslet’s fans.

A Tale of two Sisters movie review

A Tale of two Sisters 2003 movie (Janghwa, Hongryeon) short review

I love this South Korean horror movie, which has some really good horrific moments, but at the same time, this film manages to involve you dramatically due to excellent performance and terrific character development, which takes place during the course of the story unfolding. The story of Janghwa takes its own sweet time while unfolding and therefore it manages to bring out realism in every frame with so much dignity and grace which most of the Asian movies (Indian movies to be precise) fail to extract. It is a good one-time watch.

My rating: 8/10

Watch trailer of this really awesome Korean movie "A Tale Of Two Sisters".
