How to Make Your Kids Love Sports
Sport is part of life. This is just not for a lifestyle, but we should do this for our self. Preventing is much better than healing, right. This isn’t only a quote, but we must to apply this in our life. We should practice this to get healthy life. We need family support, it is much better if we can do this with other family members. This time we talk about kids. How to teach children love with sport and they want to do this with their heart. If we talk about sport, if may remember with obesity. Obesity is an international problem now. There are many kids outside with obesity problem. That’s why sport has a big role to keep their weight in good proportion.
For children under five ages, at least they should be advised to exercise for 3 hours. But encourage toddlers to exercise is not easy. Now the question is what kind of sport that must be followed and how to make them love sports? There are some easy tips to make your child want to exercise, or at least moving.
1. Invite them walking
Try to always invite your child to walk. Small children are usually able to walk for 20 to 30 minutes in a moderate speed. If you're tired, let them rest. Give them motivation with short storytelling or we can talk about nature. We can apply this activity around the house or during recreation in outdoor, like camping. Walking is a very cheap sport, right! So, we don’t need a big cost to do this activity with kids.
2. Giving small example
Ask children to do activities certainly will not work if our self are lazy. Each parent must give an example by doing various activities that make children driven to more active. They love to imitate and if they seen the good sample every day, they may want to do what parents do.
3. Invite them joining sport clubs
Studies shown that children aged between 7-10 years more fun doing sports activities if his friend joined them. Take your child to a place like a sport club. Such as: ballet, swimming, football,or maybe tennis. In addition to making the child fit, this activity can also help sharpen their skills and talents. But we should remember that never force a child to participate in activities that he does not like. Hopefully they become their idol, like: if they love football, they may become like a David Beckham.
4. Use house yard
House yard can be the most suitable place to play while exercising. Take a trampoline or make a basketball ring next to your house so the kids can play while exercising. Kids also love running around the yard, right. But how to combine this with fun games which contain walk and run activities. It should be more fun and healthy, of course.
5. Change the habit of passive watching TV to be more active
Television is not always become an enemy for children, because they still need television as an entertainment device in their leisure time. Tricks you need to do is watch TV to become more active like putting a small trampoline in front of television, or put a collection of DVDs containing the exercise. We can also invite them with simple aerobic. They can follow our movements from behind. Don’t push them with difficult movements.
