Excitement And Horror Of Being A 1st Time Parent

Updated on August 2, 2010

Hello all, In this entry i will be sharing my unbelievable experiences so far as a first time father. Although the title has the name horror in it, there is really nothing horrifying about being a parent. It's more so just you working yourself up to think it may be horrifying at first !

Going from a single guy in his early 20's to changing diapers and making bottles. Now don't get me wrong this is not a complaint that i have to do these things, I actually love doing this for my daughter. I just think that when looked back upon, it's amazing on how fast some things change for the good when you don't ever really expect it.

Sometimes i find it hard to adjust to this new life as a daddy and a fiance. Going from not having any real responsibilities to speak of to now being the sole provider for our little family is both nerve racking and rewarding. I take great pride in my daughter when i look into her eyes and she smiles right away as if she knows how hard i work for her and she may only be 3 months old but it's her way of saying thank you to me.

I was very nervous when i first discovered that i was going to be a father for the first time but let me tell you that there is nothing to worry about. Yes all of the responsibilities like bills go through your head immediately but the overwhelming sense of pride that one gets from having their own child is the most amazing feeling in the world. I am 25 years old and i am very proud to say that i am a father to my 3 month old baby girl. Please stop in a recall the feeling you had when you had your first child or the feelings that have now on your way to be a first time parent. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Thank you very much. I agree, you do have alot of mixed feelings in the beginning but somehow we manage to pull it all together and make it work. I look forward to reading your hubs and hearing from you again.

Awesome hub! And good for you! It was a very long time ago that I became a mom for the first time, and I concur...the feelings are mixed. Mostly you just wnat to live up to your own expectations and be the very best parent you can be. Looking back at "Being Mom" 25 years after the fact, there are so many blessings you never imagined possible.
