An Open Letter To My Sons
Dear sons,
Ever since you both drew your first breath, we have had the most amazing bond. There’s nothing in the world like being the mommy of a little boy, and I love you more than you could ever fathom.
I want so many things for you boys. I want you to continue being smart and kind and funny and strong and sweet. I want you to remember that of all of those things, being kind is always the most important thing you can be. I want to know you’ll always respect women and treat them they way you would want people to treat your sisters and me. I want you to chase your dreams, even when they seem too big or too scary. Those are the ones most worth chasing! I want you to know that I’ll probably fail sometimes at being a mother (actually, I definitely will) but that I love you two so much and even when I make mistakes it’s only because I think I’m doing the best I can for you and I hope one day you’ll be able to understand that.
I promise you both that I’ll always do the best I can for both of you. I’ll work hard to make the world a better place for you and make you better people for the world. I promise to do the best I can. I promise I love you even when I have to discipline you, even when you make mistakes, even when you’re angry with me. I love you so much that it will always overshadow mistakes and anger. I promise you can always tell me and your dad anything in the whole world, because no two people could ever love you more than we do. Thank you both for being my precious boys. I’m so glad that of all the boys in the entire world, you two were given to me. You’re growing up so fast now and the world is getting hard to navigate, but I’m always here and will always help you find your way. Never, ever forget that.
Love,
Mom
