Are you exploiting children
Abusing children through social networks
Approximately 100,000 people and children die every year due to use of social networks such as facebook, twitter and online dating sites.
Social medias have placed thousands of children in the hands of pedophiles. They are out there looking at children from afar and trying to find a way to get them in to their hands.
While you think that sharing a cute video of a kid dancing is so funny, all you are doing is exploiting someone elses child of which you don't even know. These videos go viral and are spread like wild fire. What may be cute and funny to you, may be putting these children at risk. One video that really made me ill was a video of a man beating, kicking and slapping his two year old continuously for 8 minutes while the mother was recording the whole thing. I could not watch it. It broke my heart that thousands of people had shared this video in America in hopes that the perpetrator would be found. Well he lived in another country so that is highly unlikely.
When I was online dating, I can not tell you the countless number of times that men and women placed pictures on their dating adds of their children and especially their teenage daughters.
First of all these children do not deserve to be expoited on social networks no matter how cute people think what they are doing is funny. It is one thing to share your pictures with friends that you know, but not for the entire world to see.
When you have 5,000 friends on facebook and post all your business, how do you know that these people are not targeting your family because not one of us know 5,0000 people especially if they live in other countries.
In 2010 the national tip line for exploited children, recieved over 2000 tips of children being exploited on social networks and lead to many arrest of pedophiles so you can only imagine 3 years later how many that is.
What people don't realize is when sharing these videos you do not have permission from the owner and the child is not old enough to make that decision and could lead to a very big law suit.
Although it is the parent responsibility for sharing these videos, it is our responsibility not to continue to share them. You may find it cute but a pedophile is finding it even more sexually appealing which makes me utterly ill.
If you are on a dating website looking for a mate, you have no business putting your childrens pictures on there. You are not looking for a date for your children, you are looking for yourself. How many sex offenders are on dating websites just waiting for the opportunity.
Child exploitation happens more then we realize. On any given day, I can go to my facebook page and see at least a dozen videos and pictures of children that have been shared up to 30,000 times.
Social networks were created to regain long lost friendships, help families who live far away find out the latest news about each other, but what it has done is cause hundreds of thousands of childen to be exploited.
Are you helping exploit children by sharing these videos? I am more then sure it never really crossed your mind that you were doing anything wrong but it is wrong.
As a parent, do not exploit your children on social medias. They don't deserve it, didn't ask you to do it and it could end up in a terrible outcome for you and them.
Respect your children and give them the protected life they deserve. If you need 5,000 friends on facebook to survive then don't put your children in harms way. There are more sexual predators on these social medias then any one of you could ever imagine.
This is how it all begins.
How one child was lead to suicide
Rebecca Sedwick was a 12 year old that was tortured on line by 15 other girls. Only two were arrested in the suicide death of this girl. These girls bullied her so much she climbed a tower and jumped to her death. No child should be bullied like this. If you have a child who is being bullied, please help them and make it stop. This is a death that should have never happened and now two of the 15 girls sit in jail for torturing this girl. If you can't be a parent then don't have children. This child was neglected by not only the school she was removed from but her parents not helping to get these girls off her back. Social media caused her to lose her life.
