Can You Hear the Thunder

Updated on October 22, 2010

Can You Hear the Thunder?

Can you hear the thunder?

Can you hear the winds?

The sky is getting darker now

Before the rain begins

Lightning bolts across the sky

The trees begin to sway

The rain begins to fall so hard

I can’t go out to play

I want to ride my bicycle

I want to roller skate

I can’t go out and play right now

All that will have to wait

Rain splatters on the windows

And water fills the street

Mommy said “Come follow me

For something good to eat.”

So in the kitchen, on a stool

Mom says “Let’s take a look.”

She smiles as brightly as the sun

And hands me her cook book

“Do you want to make some pudding?

Or should we bake a cake?

Or maybe yummie cookies

Would be real fun to make.”

A rainy day with Mommy

Will be a lot of fun

Tomorrow when the sun comes out

I can play outside and run!
