Celebrate Father's Day With Animal Dads

Hannah Holt's A Father's Love is a charming picture book and story to sit and read with young children on Father's Day. Reading with Dad and young children is a great activity to encourage bonding. Even animal dads love their children and Holt includes a variety of animal dads from around the world's animal kingdom to show that these animal dads are proud to show off their children. Love is definitely a part of the animal kingdom. Animal dads protect their children. play with their children, and nurture their children as they grow. Read along as a penguin dad protects his baby from the cold, a fox dad keeps his cubs safe, and a seahorse dad keeps his baby safe in his pouch until it is big enough to come out. An emu can even help hatch his babies along with Mom. Hannah Holt also includes an educational index of details about each of the animals in her delightful picture book.

Yee Von Chan contributes her talent as an illustrator with colorful and detailed illustrations of the environments that each animal inhabits and raises its children in.

A Father's Love was published by Philomel Books, a division of Penguin/Random House Publishing. It is recommended for ages 3-7 and has an ISBN of 9780525514206.

Celebrate Dads in the Classroom With Reading

Young children in preschool childcare classrooms will want to celebrate their dads this summer when Father's Day arrives. Teachers who teach young children in childcare classrooms can plan activities to celebrate Father's Day along with reading picture books such as these two charming picture books. You might invite dads to visit the classroom to read with their children.

*Read A Father's Love in your group story time session. Call attention to the animal dads on each page that are caring for their little ones.

*Engage children in a discussion of why they love their dads. What kinds of activities do they participate in with their dads?

*Read Dr. Seuss's I Love Pop! A Celebration of Dads in your group story time session.

*Invite dads to visit the classroom to read with their children.

*Prepare a special snack for dads and their child to share when they visit the classroom to celebrate dad's special day.
