Fisher-Price Crib Mobiles

Updated on July 26, 2013

A Little Light Entertainment

The Fisher-Price crib mobiles available on the market today are remarkably colorful and have a lot of elements to keep your child occupied for some time.

A number of these crib mobiles have lights that display shapes on the wall or ceiling. Most also have a music with a number of lullabies and other tunes that are great to soothe a cranky baby or keep the child entertained.

Some of the crib mobiles have mirrors, soft toys attached and a motor that allows everything to rotate over the baby's head. As well most have a remote control device so mom can turn the mobile on or off without having to touch the crib and disturbing the baby.

I noticed that there are a couple of mobiles that can be taken apart and attached to a stroller. As well there are a number of Fisher-Price activity gyms that have a floor quilt and a colorful arch that goes over the mat with a number of different objects attached. These can include spinners, a mirror and movable and stationary activity toys.

If you are looking for a way to keep your baby occupied especially during the night when you don't necessarily want to have to get up, then investing in a crib mobile just might help you get a little more sleep!

Peek-A-Boo Leaves Musical Mobile

The mobile offers music, lights and motion. As well the time can be set for ten minutes, twelve minutes and eighteen minutes. There are a number of toys that sway gently as the mobile spins.

Here is what one happy customer had to say about this crib mobile: "Our baby tries hard to stay awake and watch the leaves go and colorful animals go round and round. But there's something about the slow speed of the rotation along with the jungle noise and/or classical music that just makes her drowsy every time. My husband and I are very pleased with this purchase."

Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile

This mobile has three animal characters that spin on the mobile's arms. The arms can be removed and the mobile turned into an activity center. There are music controls with three settings: one to soothe the child and one that can be played when the child is active.

Here's what one happy parent had to say about this crib mobile: " Our 2.5 month old likes the soothing music and watching the simple motion. We've been using it successfully to calm him down and help him fall asleep on his own for naps and bedtime."

Reasons to Have a Crib Mobile

Crib mobiles are a great way to offer a baby visual and audio stimulation. According to some studies, this helps the child develop neural connections to the brain which is necessary for the child to learn.

Mobiles come in many different color combinations but mostly they are the primary colors. These colors tend to be brighter and cheerful and easily noticed by the child. Having colorful characters hanging from the mobile will help to visually stimulate the child as well.

Soft lullabies or classical music are best as this type of music tends to soothe the child to sleep which is probably a good thing for the parents!

Another important reason to have a crib mobile is that they offer a chance for the child to improve their motor skills by reaching for different pieces of

Great hub! I've been thinking about getting a mobile but I always get intimidated by all the options! This is a nice overview and gives me some good ideas to follow up on.
