Fix The Ramen
Your success as a parent isn't measured by great meals. And anyway, who said Ramen isn't a great meal?
One of the perks of getting older and being able to look back on my life is being able to see where I screwed up and wishing there had been someone older and much wiser to sit me down and give me some advice.
Another perk of this time of life is being able to actually BE that person who has advice to give (regardless of whether it was asked for or not!).
Women are their own worst enemies! And with the constant drone of social media humming in our minds, we girls see everything everyone does to near perfection and we find ourselves looking at our own shabby homes and pathetic attempts at everything from cooking praise worthy dinners to raising perfect children to the most beautiful hair and even to having perfect husbands who do everything we ask and they do it right on time. Just like everyone else's husbands do (not true! dont fall for it!). And we wonder why we feel inadequate when we have to combine working outside the home or inside the home, driving kids to practice, attending school meetings and can't produce perfectly cooked al dente pasta!
Playing the comparison game is a guarantee to making you feel as though you have green stuff stuck in your teeth and no one bothers to tell you about it.
So I'm here to say that it's not worth it. None of it. It's a manufactured myth that every woman on Instagram or Facebook or Pinterest produces Food Network meals every, single night after working all day and having had only a few hours of sleep the night before due to a sick kid.
Cut yourselves some slack.
I wish I had.
Life is sweeter when you aren't crazy and your kids (and husbands) will survive.
More importantly....so will you.
Give yourself a break.
