How to Show a Baby That You Love Him or Her

We can't expect babies to just know that we love them. Like the saying goes "Actions speak louder than words." We have to show babies that we love them. Since they don't understand most acts of love are love, we have to show them in ways they understand. If you know babies, you know that babies can be finicky and hard to show love to. We don't know what they want or need since they can't talk. So, showing your love makes it somewhat difficult. Here are some ideas to show love to your baby.

Showing Love Through Basic Needs

A great and easy way of showing love to your baby boy or girl is to take great care of them. Give them food in their belly, clean clothes, a safe environment, yummy food, and other basic needs. By doing this, you are showing them that they can trust you. They depend on you to take care of them and as such, they love you for it. Make sure to give them all they need (and might want) and you'll show them that your love for them is tremendous.

Showing Love Through Affection

Even as adults, we love to cuddle. Cuddling with your baby is another great way of showing your love to them. Having your baby feel the closeness between the two of you is relaxing to them. Notice how the only thing that seems to make your baby feel better is to hold them? They LOVE it when you hold them, cuddle them, and love them. Rock your baby back and forth to soothe them when they are upset and they'll know you love them too.

Showing Love With Play

Another way to show your love for your baby is by playing with them. Not all babies are the same so you'll have to find out what your baby likes. If your baby doesn't like the game, stop. But, some ideas of things to do to play with your baby are:

  • Peek-a-boo - Use a blanket or your hands to hide and then re-appear.
  • Dance - Just put on some good music and dance around the room with your baby. Be careful while dancing though, they're fragile.
  • Hand Games - Clap your babies hands together.

Show Love by Talking

Talking to your baby is an amazing way to show your love. When you talk to your baby and keep eye contact, you are letting your baby hear the voice of the one they trust. It means a lot to them. When you talk to them, get to their level, cuddle, talk in a high pitched voice. If you talk in a high pitched voice, they tend to soak it in more.

You can even sing to them while you dance around with them. They'll love to hear you sing, even if you think you're bad. Your baby will be your number one fan.

I hope you have gained some techniques on how to show love to your baby. Remember though, showing love to your baby shouldn't be generic. If you know your baby loves something you do, do it often. Even if you don't know it, your baby loves you.
