You Are Who You Are - I Am The Me I Always Wanted to Be-Daughter, Sister, Mother, Friend and Teacher
Who Am I?
I Am Me
I sat on a website all evening looking for the perfect quote for my life. There were many, many great ones – but none that were perfect. Then I realized – nothing was perfect because I am unique. I am not every quote on that site. I am not any quote on that site. I am me.
I am a daughter to parents who have passed away. I am the combination of their love, their hopes, their dreams and their lives. Not even my sisters are the exact same as me. I am me.
I am a mother to my children. I have passed on to them, my past, my mistakes, my life, and my love. I am forever grateful that my children are the people they are today. They are what make my life seem important. I meant something to them in their lives. The good, the bad and all the in between. They are my life and my future.
I am a wife to my husband. I love him as he loves me, unconditionally. He knows my heart, my soul, and my mind. He knows all there is to know about me and decides to love it all. The good, the bad, and all the in between.
I am a teacher to my students. I am the teacher in the “justateacher.” I am just a teacher because it is all I ever wanted to be and all I will ever do. I pass on my love of learning to them. I pass on my love of people and of ideas to them. I pass on a part of my soul and my body and my mind. I hope I pass the knowledge they yearn for, even when they don’t know they yearn for it.
I am a grandmother to my grandchildren. The two who are here, the one on the way, and the many I do not even know about yet. I see in them my future, my dreams and hopes. I see a future where they can be anything they want or need to be. I see them never needing anything and always having what they want. I see them being the persons they want to be. I see nothing stopping them from doing what they want. I see no pride or prejudice keeping them from their dreams.
I am a friend to those around me. I push them when they need to be pushed, hold them when they need to be held, and tell them what they need to be told. I am not a perfect friend, but my friends are. They know me and how to help me be a better friend.
I am a sister to my sisters and brothers. I have seen them grow up and they have watched me grow. I was there for their first loves and first hates. They were there to remind me that even if I made mistakes, they would stand behind me and push me when I needed to be pushed and hold me when I needed to be held. They are there for my children and grandchildren. They are my past and my future and all the in between.
I am me. I am the person that people see differently. I am not the same to any two people, because I am different in how I feel and how I care about each person. I love them each and every one in each and every way that is special to them. I am the me that sees that people are special and the things they do each day are special to me, to them and to others. I am the me that no one knows but me. Those special, dark recesses in my heart and my soul and my body, that no one is allowed to see because if I shared it, I would no longer be the me that is me.
I am me. And I am proud of being me. I am happy that there are no quotes that fit me perfectly. I am me…
