A Father's Story

I have and will always be there for you My Son...

Our separation from each other has a history that is bigger than Me or your Mother.

Bigger and calculated so that you would never look to me for strength...

I knew I could have done more to fight the "Willie Lynch" method of planned separation of the Black Man from his family...

I need you to hear the tears of my words and grow from them...

Life is a series of events and things happen that we can't control or prevent sometimes...

The trials don't come with an expiration date ... You Must Be Strong!

Show them what you are made of, show them that no matter what, you will not give up, you will not be stopped because you come from Divine Stock...

Let go of the anger and let go of those emotions that unleash frustration and stress into your Powerful Mind...

Our separation has a history ... Our future together is up to us ...The missing years of my life in your life, came with a price, that I still am paying for...

Blame is all around and I accept wearing the crown as the king culprit for your lack of emotions towards me...

When you reached out, No Where to Be Found Became My New Name...

When the growing pain needed a voice, I was never your first choice...

Missed so much because I couldn't handle my own stuff...

So many men like myself are in need of releasing the reasons for Running Away, Staying Away, and not being Confident and Strong enough to be there for their children...

May these words reach their eyes and their pride.

May these words touch their hardened hearts and make them seek their children's forgiveness.

Seek their children before their health deteriorates, time deteriorates and the memories of them are buried in the mind of children and grandchildren.

Our children are our future no matter what we did in the past, may these words be a doorway to the heart of a child in search of answers, and a Father who continues to be missing in the life of their seeds.

This is a Father's Story, confession is food for the soul.

Some men have convince themselves that they can never repair the damage done, while others will never give up in trying to fix their relationship with the children, and then there are those men whose hearts are harden, cold, and insensitive... They never find true happiness in their soul. My father took the latter route.

Being a mother on the other side, so to speak, I hope you can appreciate the anxious on the woman's side as well. Somehow you sounding like one, would come back into their lives in later years. Mine did so with our daughter, but still to this day has nothing to do with his son and family because I am disabled and they take care of me. He views it as dropping the sperm and gone in 60 seconds, I guess lol. I hope there is healing for you out there. You'd be surprised by how many men feel the same as you, but for reasons of their own, refuse contact with them. Love is for me and should be for all, unconditional. This is the way I see this writing tonight. Thanks for making something 3 dimensional that all can relate to.

Thank you for your words and I will indeed read your piece. Some stories sit on the shelf of the mind too long. This was a poetic release and because we take hurt personal when it is universal, I let this one come out , with hopes that some fathers may still try to get their act together, upon reading this.

It is a beautiful and honesty filled poem. You should be happy that you got the chance and used it to bridge a gap between you and your son. I happened upon this hub after writing a hub entitled "Fatherlessness the breakdown of the family". If you find some time perhaps you can peruse it and send a comment is possible. Your poem is ointment which needs to be poured out in the world. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your comment and know that it is harder for the Son to let go of the anger and disappointment then the daughters. With time we can only hope that they both learn how to honor their emptiness.

Very nicely done. I am reminded of my children's biological father who left when they were little. There is no relationship w/ our son, but our daughter kept trying and now they have one. Thank you for showing the flipside of the coin. Voted up and beautiful.
