Mommy Needs A Time Out!
With two very active toddlers running around the house, it should come as no surprise that the phrase, "you need a time out" is frequently heard.
Known only as the worst punishment in the world to children, these same words engender a directly opposite feeling in mothers all over the world.
For those not familiar with this disciplinary method, I'll let you in on a little secret. When the kids get a timeout, mommy gets a timeout too.
Please, don't feel sorry for us, for if it weren't for timeouts, we mothers wouldn't get any peace and quiet that we so desperately need during the day.
From household chores to catching up with my reading, I have learned to use this time to get all sorts of things done.
Believe me, if you had two rambunctious (yet adorable) children who spend a considerable time in the timeout chair, you'd do the same.
Which leaves me to wonder - when we mothers voice the inevitable "you need a time out!", are we really saying "mommy needs a time out?"
