You just wiped applesauce off the ceiling, found play-doh in your couch, and your two year old is not happy she can't play with your cell phone. Ah, the joys of motherhood.

Mommy-hood is full of ups and downs. Life can be so much easier if you have the support and encouragement from friends. A mom's group or playgroup can make a tremendous difference. If you are searching for mom's groups in the Austin area, here are a few groups to select from.

One fantastic mother's group in the Austin area is MOPS. MOPS stands for "Mothers of Preschoolers" and is essentially a support group for moms of babies, toddlers and preschoolers. There are currently at least 15 MOPS groups in Austin the surrounding areas.

To find the one closest to you, visit the website here and click on the box to search for a local group. MOPS groups usually meet at least twice a month and sometimes have Mom's Night Out events. It's a great place to find friendship, get advice and much more.

It is a Christian based program, however anyone can definitely join. You will hear guest speakers talk about issues such as coping with stress, learn fun crafts and just have a chance to socialize.

North Austin Mother's Club

Another fantastic group for area moms is the North Austin mother's club. Their motto is "It's like recess for moms." They meet often and are there to provide support for moms through pregnancy and on. You can learn more about them and how to join on their website here.

However, they do have an anti-discrimination policy and all moms who support the mission of Mocha Moms can join. They group is filled with "talented, dynamic women". La Leche League

If you are a breastfeeding mother, or are pregnant and plan to breastfeed, La Leche league might be for you. La Leche League meetings help moms find support and encouragement with breastfeeding. However, you can also find support with other parenting issues as well. There are currently about ten La Leche League support groups in the Austin area. There is even a Spanish speaking group.
