My Heritage DNA Test Review And My Results

Around 6 months ago I decided to purchase a DNA ancestry testing kit from My Heritage. It was something I had thought about doing for a couple of years but never really got around to it. And then one day around 6 months ago a buddy of mine told me that he had recently had a test done so I thought I may as well go ahead and order one myself. At the time it cost me around $120 New Zealand dollars which I thought was quite expensive however I went ahead and purchased it anyway as it is only something that you have to buy once. So after I waited for about 2 weeks the testing kit turned up in the mail. It came with a small instruction manual , a swab , a vial and a return address so My Heritage. To take the DNA test was fairly simple. All you have to do is take the swab and rub it on the inside of your mouth (around the cheek area) for about 30 seconds. After you have done this you simply place the swab into the vial and then place it in the envelope which is already addressed. Mine did not have the postage paid on the envelope which I thought they would have done however I guess because I am not in the USA they did not do this as they do not know how much the postage will be from every country. So I sent back the envelope and waited patiently. After they receive the DNA sample they will begin to process it and extract the DNA. This process can take a few weeks so be patient. After they finish processing your DNA you will receive an email from My Heritage letting you know that your results are ready to view. There will be a small video which plays showing your results which I thought was pretty cool. Anyway here are my DNA results North and West Europe 85.6% English 41.8%Irish, Scottish, and Welsh 25.8% North and West European 18.0% East Europe 14.4% East European 14.4% . They also show your results on a map which shows the areas that you have DNA from. I have put a photo below of this map.

Conclusion

So that is pretty much it. I am pleased with the review and think it is fairly accurate. I did download my DNA data from my heritage and upload it to other websites and the results did seem to stay fairly consistent for the most part. I have also included a video below talking a little bit more about my experience.
