The Box Upon The Beach
The Box Upon Beach
As I was walking down the beach
I saw something in the sand
It was a shiny box of gold
Oh my! That box was grand!
The box was glowing in the sun
And I wondered what to do
This box would make a lovely gift
So I'd pass it on to you
I handed you this box of gold
You shook your head, No! No!
"I am not worthy of this gift."
You told me, "Please, just go!"
I left your house and wandered round
First one street than the other
I knew what could do with this!
I'd give it to my mother
Mom lives so very far away
But I could get there in nothing flat
When I went to get aboard the plane
They said, "You can't get on with that!"
I can't get on an airplane
So I'd have to take a bus
The lady in the next seat
Started making such a fuss!
The driver told me to get off
And "Lady - You keep quiet!"
"YOU - Get that gold box off my bus
Before it starts a riot!"
The box was causing problems
So I put the gold box in a sack
Now what was I suppose to do?
I'd just go and put it back
I took a long walk to the beach
To where the box was found
I'd like to give the box to someone
But no one was around
I was going to set the gold box down
As it shined before my eyes
This box has caused a whole days grief
I got mad as I realized
I'd traveled back from where I'd come
As I watched the gold box glow
I took that box and pitched it
I threw as hard as I could throw!
I threw that gold box in the ocean
And I saw it float away
It got smaller - smaller - smaller
And then it caught a wave
That gold box road upon the wave
And came to rest right on the shore
The box was shining in the sun
So here I go once more
I found a gold box on the beach .....
