This family of mine (Poem)

Updated on January 4, 2013

The very second marked in time

I saw his ever so tiny face

There was absolutely no doubt

It was by God’s holy grace

My lovely wife, ever so happy

All was going to be so fine

That God had generously granted

This precious little family of mine

Three years or so later

God’s grace again found way

Another handsome son was given

So precious there he lay

My wife proudly held him up

Both glowing in a ray of shine

God had granted yet another one

To this growing little family of mine

Then came my beautiful daughter

A few more years down the road

My beautiful wife so proudly held her up

They both so brightly ever glowed

I sat there in sheer wonderment

Could this life be more fine?

Thinking how God had granted me

This wonderful little family of mine

Ever so happy though we were

God’s grace was not yet through

This time God granted us not one

Wow! This time he gave us two!

A precious boy and girl to take home

Both oh so ever sweet, ever so devine

God had so generously granted me

This amazing little family of mine

A dozen years have come and gone

And I remember the past to when

My oldest boys were ever so little

Now they have become grown men

My darling little middle child

Certainly no longer a baby

Has blossomed and quickly flourished

Into one beautiful little lady

As parents we still cling dearly

On to our youngest little two

So quickly they do grow right up

Right there in front of you

No way could I create this life

Any better of my own design

Only God could have given me

This family of mine...

Hi Maggie, it is a treat for me to see you visit me. I could not have done such a thing, and show these type of emotions a year ago. It has been such a fantastic experience to even TRY to write a poem as such.

I am happy I was able to kick off your morning coffee with a treat.

      Hug right back at you!

....a really great hall of fame line - "Only God could have given me this family of mine'

...and so very worthy of a proud and joyous posting to my Facebook page with a direct link back here - this is your masterwork, I believe, as the fine poet that you've become. And I am still laughing, believe me, at your comment to me about spewing Mountain Dew through your nose - someone else made a similar comment on the same page - it just goes to show you that great minds really do think alike.

That was so beautiful, and what a lovely family you must have, and the best of all is that you as a husband and father know it, and said it so eloquently. I feel blessed that you have shared it with us. That was a true Love Letter to your family.

Chris I have just come over here after reading your coomment on my hub today.

I don't know how you can say that you are not a poet I do not know.

Yur work is great and I am not the only hubber who thinks this.

As I am writing this I am slowly realisisng who else puts herself down also : Yes you've got it ; ME !!!

I suppose we should practice what we preach at times.

      Ha ha ha !!!

However this poem I vote up up and away and here's to so many more to share on here.

Take care and enjoy your day.

I know Eddy, I am my worst critic. I don't really put in any structure to my poems....I just write what comes to mind and blah..there it is.

I am still such a rookie and writing. But it is people like you who inspire me to do better.

Thank you so very much for your kind words.
