Whispered Prayers From A Mother's Heart - Poem

Updated on August 30, 2016
When you were just a tiny thing
When you were just a tiny thing
When a toddler, you became
When a toddler, you became
Then off to school you went one day
Then off to school you went one day
Broken bones and solo parts
Broken bones and solo parts
Standing tall in your cap and gown
Standing tall in your cap and gown
And now your grown and gone your way
And now your grown and gone your way

Whispered Prayers From A Mother's Heart

When you were just a tiny thing

I’d rock you in my arms and sing

As I beheld an angels face

I whispered prayers from a mother’s heart ♥

As you grew and learned to walk,

Cut your first tooth, and tried to talk

I stood in awe

And whispered prayers from a mother’s heart ♥

When a toddler, you became

And splashed in puddles, made by rain

I laughed

And whispered prayers from a mother’s heart ♥

Then off to school you went one day

I cried as I watched you walk away

And sighed

Then whispered prayers from a mother’s heart ♥

Through the years of broken hearts,

Broken bones and solo parts

I’ve shed tears and swelled with pride

But never ceased

To whisper prayers from a mother’s heart ♥

The years flew by until I found

You standing tall in your cap and gown

I stood amazed, and still

I whispered prayers from a mother’s heart ♥

And now you’re grown and gone your way

I no longer see you every day

But I pray you’ll always know, no matter how far you go

I’ll never stop

Whispering prayers from a mother’s heart ♥

Thank you kiwinana. You are so right, the years fly by and suddenly they are gone and all we have left are memories, but our prayers never stop.

      Thank you Sharonjoe,

Your encouragement is humbly received. Only another mother could understand what it means to whisper those prayers as their children grow, learn, and leave the nest.

I look forward to reading your tribute.

Thanks for reading and the votes!

I just posted a tribute to my only daughter,..and I found this link to your hub !!! ohhhh, it is such an awesome creativity.. and so true.. the whispering prayers from a mother's heart can never be felt or seen by anyone other than the Creator Himself. And He has a good collection of them, I must say.. :)

      Voted up and beautiful !!

      God bless you

      Sharonjoe.

kaltopsyd, what a great idea! Thanks for your vote of confidence on making "Prayers from a mother's heart" into a song. I'll be humming it in my head for a while.

This is such a lovely poem! Add a chorus and a bridge and you'll have a song. I can hear it... :)

      Thank you UniqueBeauty,

Yes motherhood is not for the faint of heart. There are mountains to climb and valleys to go through, but the rewards far outweigh the tears.

I'm glad it made you think of your own mother, perhaps you will give her a call and just say thanks.

I hope you will one day experience the joy of motherhood.

I almost cried. As I read this I was thinking of my mom, and how hard it must be to be a mother. Thank you to all you moms out there that have dedicated your life to your children- it makes a difference.

Great poem, miss_jkim, the best I have read to have brought tears to my eyes. I don't cry easy, but you did it to me. Thank you Lord for the blessing of mothers!

Oh Becca, Thank you for your kind words and to send it to your mother is such an honor for me.

This was written to all three of my children who are grown now. But, as I'm sure your mother will agree, I continue to keep them in my prayers.

Brought tears to my eyes. I have a 6 year old boy and a 2 year old boy. My son's first day of school was last year, and I cried like a baby. This is such a beautiful tribute. Thank you for sharing, I believe I'll send this to my mother now. : )

I am glad you liked it Lifeallstar1, and yes, it is totally from the heart. Thank you for taking time to read and comment.

Lovelypaper, you are so right, bittersweet is exactly what it is to raise and release your children. But there is even more joy when they bring grandchildren home.

      Thankyou for reading and commenting.

It's so bittersweet to let your babies grow up and out of the house. They really do grow up so fast. We have to cherish every moment while they are young.
