Do you think the love we have of some things is genetic or is it instilled in us growing up?
Are somethings we love genetically handed down for generations or is it instilled in us while we are growing up? Not all of us have the same wants, desires, and "love" of such things as pets, sports, careers as our parents and ancestors, so so you think that some of it is genetically passed on?
You know, that's actually a pretty interesting question, I'm not sure that has ever been researched; I guess you'll have to look. If I had to take a stab at it though, I would say that many of the things we like are inherit, we may pick up on same things from our parents. Just like you may inherit a parents natural ability for music, you may inherit their love of certain foods. I'm sure there are many cases where a love of something is instilled from childbirth though, I grew around my Dad loving Spider-Man, comic books, and drawing; as I grew older I noticed that I loved them all just as much. Is it a coincidence? Perhaps, but I guess we'll never know will we?!

From the time I was a small child, I played music on anything I could find. At the age of 32, I met my birth family and was told that my mom met my dad while he was playing the bass in a band. None of the other three adopted siblings that I had, all from different parents, loved music...

Did you give your parents a hard time? Were you the kid who always got in trouble, the instigator of all neighborhood wars, the wild child? Were you the 'black sheep' of the family while all your siblings were well behaved? Let's hear it.

How do you encourage your middle schoolers to strive and do their best when their tendency is to do as little as possible to get the grade? This laziness also leaks over to NOT keeping room clean, leaving things like clothing on the floor, not bringing dishes over to sink to help and not...

Do all generations think theirs is best?It seems that every generation thinks all new generations are worse off. Worse music, worse behavior, more "entitlement", worse manners, worse parents, etc. Is this just the way it is? Do we all (collectively) eventually just think our time...

I have a 23 year old nephew who is to all appearances a healthy happy guy. He is happily married to his high school sweetheart. They both recently graduated from college, are working, (she is a nurse!) and live in Colorado. He just had surgery to remove cancer from his lymph nodes and glands. In...
