Baby Gift Ideas-Best Baby Celebration Gifts for Holiday Giving

Updated on July 11, 2022

Best Present for a New Moms

Baby Gift Ideas Best baby celebration gifts for new moms with a creative flair. If you can't think of what to buy for that new baby you can go creative with a basket. New babies and new parents both need lots of supplies to get through that first year. A gift basket can include practical supplies for babies as well as toys and gift cards. New parents are usually overwhelmed by the birth of their new child. You can always include a gift in the form of a card to a nice restaurant for them to take a break from baby and relax. You might even make some homemade coupons for babysitting while they are out.

If you are a parent you can probably relate to the stresses a new baby can bring. A disrupted sleep schedule interrupted meals and feeding in the middle of the night. A gift basket for Xmas which is attractively arranged will bring joy and delight to the new parents. Baby items are fun to shop for and since this is a baby's first Christmas you may want to include customized or engraved ornaments which can be cherished for many seasons to come.

Try to focus on items that are practical for the baby. If you are a grandparent of the child you may want to start a savings account or purchase savings bonds. Otherwise, diapers, powder, and other practical items take up a lot of space and the smaller areas of the basket can be filled in with trinkets, toys, ornaments, and other decorative objects.

Babies are Special

Sometimes the best baskets given to new parents are things that will make their new live roles more comfortable. A basket for the new baby can also include surprises for them such as hot cocoa mixes or teas. A pair of slippers for the cool middle-of-the-night feedings. I suggest you think of a gift basket divided into 4 categories.

The 4 Categories Each Basket Needs

1. Necessities-diaper, wipe creams, and other things needed for the baby's care.

2. Clothing for Baby-t-shirt, shoes, socks, and small everyday clothing.

3. Toys-stuffed animals, dolls, rattles, and other amusing items.

4. Comforts for Parents-prepackage snacks, books, lap blankets, and anything to provide comfort for parents.

The best presents for new infants are those which celebrate the entire family. Often times younger siblings may feel left out when a new baby arrives in the household. If this is the case make sure a little something is added to your basket to include these children as well. Making sure the basket has a holiday theme will make it a joyous time for everyone. I like to add candy canes for the hot cocoa mix I always include in my celebrations baskets. Sometimes I even include a special cup to drink from during the long winter nights.

Special Gifts

When you are making a gift basket get creative. I like to use baskets, baby bathtubs, or other large items as my gift holder. Imagine an overnight crib or stroller filled with everything new parents need to welcome their new baby. Start with some of the necessities, like diapers they can be a layer or rolled up for a decorative feel. Next layer heavier items to help stabilize the small items you plan to arrange. Baby shampoo, powder, and lotions can help to support stuffed animals and toys.

Depending upon the size of your container will help you determine how many items you will need to fill your gift. If you have soft items like towels and blankets they can be easily tucked between the heavier things. I like to put cute items on the outside of the creation so it can be immediately seen when the gift is presented to the family. For this special time, you can use baby toys in place of a bow or include them in the bow.

The baskets I make have a cellophane outer wrapping which I use to hold everything in place once I finish arranging it. I sometimes need to use tape to secure some items. Make sure that the tape you use on diapers does not tear them. I like to use painter's tape since it is easy to remove and will not destroy the gifts when removed. This tape comes in different strengths and colors, so you can determine which one you need before you start the project.
