Best Laptop For Kids

Updated on September 10, 2014

Disney Netpal by ASUS

Oh the joys of having a tween. Not quite irresponsible enough to be considered a teenager, but too mature to be considered adolescent. Kids of the I-Gen have it so easy. I remember the days when I used to have to look up all my information in current magazines, and in encyclopedias and real books and such. Now though, kids have the internet at their fingertips and can look for things with the ease of couple of clicks of their finger. By the age of 11 now, which is relatively 6th grade, kids already have the internet incorporated into their daily classes and homework. Almost all parent/teacher communication is electronic. The need for computers with internet access is almost a necessity to succeed in school. While this has its advantages, it also presents some safety concerns about what our children can be viewing.

Good parents everywhere know that the internet can hold scary things for children. That's why I think the Disney Netpal by ASUS is quite possibly the best product on the market for teens to surf the net and parents to feel secure knowing that the safety and privacy of your child is highly secured. Check it out for yourself.

ASUS and Disney have teamed up to bring the magic of creative learning and fun into a perfect first laptop for your child.

Designed for kids aged 6-12, the Disney Netpal by ASUS is durable, with a reinforced mechanical design, and offers a truly magical and engaging computing experience with a unique Disney user interface. With colorful Disney-themed style, your child can explore a web-safe world of technology on their own with ease.

The Disney Desktop "gadget tray" offers a creatively designed 2D menu displaying a Disney-themed browser and a robust suite widgets and applications.

The Netpal includes more than two dozen robust parental control options and a kid-friendly software suite featuring Disney characters and icons in a fun and intuitive design. The kid-friendly web browser and email have extra filters to assure that parents are able to control online safety and content for their children, and can easily select whom their children can correspond with.

It comes with an 8.9-inch LCD display, built-in wireless Internet connectivity, and the familiar Windows XP Home operating system; making it the ideal first computer for your child.

Optimized for Web-Safety and Sports a Sleek Durable Design

The Disney Netpal by ASUS is designed to be kid-friendly, both in terms of durability and content permissions.

It's rugged and durable, with a spill-proof keyboard that protects against inadvertent liquid spills. The Disney Netpal by ASUS' ShockShield data protection guards against data loss when the computer is subject to impact.

The Disney Netpal also allows parents to create a web-safe computing environment with many parental control options.

Parents can pre-select email correspondence options, browsers, the websites their kids visit and the programs they use. These permissions can also be scheduled on a calendar, providing parents with a convenient, automated means of granting access on the days and times that they choose.

Parents can also pull up data to determine where children spent time, and for how long, in the Disney Browser.

Additional websites can be added for access, but only if the parent approves and submits the request within the password-protected system.

The Disney Desktop installed on the Disney Netpal by ASUS is an easy-to-use interface specifically tailored to kids, with an intuitive visual interface and instructions that make it easy for kids to operate the computer.

Right out of the box, the Disney browser launches numerous kid-friendly Disney websites for kids to explore.

The Disney Desktop features a 2D "gadget tray" that displays bold visual icons for easy access to applications.

Rounding off the Netpal's fun, kid-friendly features are a collection of 15 easily-accessible widgets, including a stopwatch, digital memo pad, which inserts "reminder notes" on the Disney Desktop, and a calculator.

The Netpal is also designed with portability in mind. Its 8.9-inch screen in a compact and light weight chassis helps kids to easily carry the Netpal to the school or a play date.

With 5 hours of battery life, built-in webcam, microphone and wireless internet, the Netpal can operate hours on end without being plugged into the wall.

By choosing Windows XP Home as the platform for the Disney Netpal by ASUS, kids can still enjoy this ultra-mobile mini-notebook as they grow older. The familiar and widely compatible Windows XP Home allows for future software installs of programs such as Microsoft Office (not included) to help them with more advanced school projects.

Getting a head start in school has never been more fun and easier. The Disney Netpal by ASUS is the perfect computer for kids to learn and grow up with.
