The important role of grandparents even in older age

In celebration of grandparents, where older age becomes an asset!

When you emerge from the years of youth and vitality, it can seem a bit of a shock to realize that your children are now independent and you no longer have the endless automatic energy when you hit life full on. As you begin to realize that you will have to work hard to maintain any sort of health and fitness it is all too easy to prefer denial about your age and pretend you are as young as the best of them. You can't kid yourself for long though. Before you know it, the grandchildren arrive and you are faced with the prospect of being revered and treated like a delicate piece of porcelain. With the arrival of the first grandchild it is the ideal time to reassess your role and mindset. Just when you thought you had successfully let go of your own children you might be required to take up your new important role as grandma or grandpa. Don't panic- you are not the first- and there are plenty of us out there still happy to talk about age because we are grandparents and know that we still have much to contribute as well as receive.

A Grandparents' New Life Energy

Don't outlive enthusiasm!

If you have been wondering how to keep going and believe in yourself, then being grandparents can help you to do just that. When your family come to you needing a bit of wisdom and watching to see whether you are going to persevere with what you have believed in, you know that you have to keep going. Who knows how much your family- the next generation will be affected by your attitude to life and the role models you give them? This is your chance to pick yourself up, brush yourself down and find a new life energy that won't defy even older age!

Henry David Thoreau said that none are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm.

Grandparents Are A Crown To The Aged

and parents are the pride of their children. Proverbs 17v6

We Need Love- The Good Thing About Age

Do what grandma and grandpa can do well-

Share love from your heart with your family. They live in a world that is often harsh and unforgiving, but grandparents have the advantage of being able to just love their grandchildren without all the stresses and worries of having to bring them up, as they had with their own children.

Beautiful lens with helpful advice! What about grandparenting from afar? That's a real challenge, but so common today.

Great topic. I wrote about the importance of grandparents in the lives of children. It's a bond I think many overlook and it benefits everyone involved. I'm not a grandparent myself (I didn't have kids) but I would think the rewards are tremendous!

A very positive lens: simple truths, but how important! I can't help feeling that when children know they are loved by the family, it gives them the confidence to go out and face the world.

This is a good thought provoking lens. Every year when I grow older it has no meaning as I am still 16 in my mind and my heart. My grand children may not agree with that, however. *-*Blessed*-* and featured on Sprinkled with Stardust
