Kids Party - Party venues for children in Johannesburg South Africa

Those of us who have small children, know that your little ones birthday parties are a big deal. They are only small for such a short time, and soon will be mortified at the thought of having Mom or Dad around at their party.

Johannesburg has many nice places for children’s parties as it is a young and growing city. The close proximity of small holdings and farms to the suburbs makes it easy to have a kids party out in the country by only driving 30 minutes from your home.

Finding a nice and affordable birthday party venue for kids can become a challenge, here are some kids party venue ideas for those of you in the Johannesburg area.

These are all kids party places that I have been to and enjoyed. I have held my own kids parties at a number of the venues, and am able to provide estimates of the costs at those party venues.

Jimmy Jungles has nice clean facilities and is good for all weather conditions as it is an indoor venue. They have a party in a box option that is very well organised, you get party packs, juices for the children and platters of food for everyone else,  and a cake. Furthermore they set up and take down everything for you, so all you have to do it show up a bit before your guests arrive.

There are no outside facilities, so the kids cannot run around on the grass and play, they can only play on the large play set provided.

This is a good venue with plenty of variety, they have all sorts of Jungle Jim's, climbing frames, slides, grassy areas to run. I have been to many parties here and the kids have always had allot of fun. One party even hired a water slide and the children all slipped and slided around.

It is good for all weather as the main party areas is under cover. The bathroom facilities are nice and there are helper to assist with cleaning up the provided plates and cups.

If you are on a budget, Galloolies farm is still OK to go to, as long as you go during the day on Saturday or Sunday, there are lots of people around and it should be safe.

There are limited public play areas with large kids play apparatus, and lots of public toilets. This is important, as any parks around Johannesburg do not have toilet facilities. If you are planning a party in a park, be sure to check the presence and the state of the facilities before committing to the venue.

There hectares of open space, and the kids can run wild, if you want more order you can hire a jumping castle and you are “a for away”.

Another good idea for a park party is to have a boot camp theme, and the kids can march around, throw water balloons, and cause general mayhem with water pistols!

This Spur has one of the nicest outdoor playgrounds in the group. They have a well organised team that watches the children so that nobody gets hurt.

There are large jumping castles, zorbs trampolines and swings. The party's are served in the undercover restaurant part so it is good for all weather. The requirement is that you buy the party grub from them, so no self catering here.

Party Land is a small holding and has multiple party venues to choose from. All the venues are well equipped with bike tracks, climbing frames, jumping castles, soccer balls, sand pits, you name it they got it.

If he is feeling up to it the resident pony will take the kids for rides at no extra cost.
This is one of my favorite venues and I have been back many times. At R900.00 for 3 hours you get all of the above, as well as tea and coffee for the adults.

They party venue has ample cover, parking and nice bathrooms. This is one of the best value for money venues around.

Kidzville is 4 venues in 1. It is great for theme party’s as they have dedicated pirate, boot camp and farmyard party venues.

It is a bit more costly than Party Land, at R1700.00 for 3 hours and a bit more per person over a limit, but the price includes an entertainer, who will dress up to match the theme and will run the kids around on all sorts of adventures for the three hours.

If you are a large crowd, then I would recommend this venue, as many venues charge per head over a set limit, they have no limit. It is fully self contained  and has good clean facilities. At R1000.00 for three hours you can bring as many people as you want to and enjoy the fun.
