You don't have to go out to drink novelty drinks. Instead just make them in your home. Here are three delicious hot drink recipes to warm you up on the chilliest of nights.
Rainy Day Hot Chocolate
What you need:
- 1 tsp Cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/8 or a dash of ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp cream
- 1 tsp pure vanilla
- 1 cup milk
To make:
Combine the cocoa powder, sugar, and cinnamon in a mug. Stir in cream and vanilla extract and then set it aside. Heat the milk over medium-low heat in a small saucepan. Then pour the hot milk into the cup with the cocoa mix and stir until it's well mixed. Add any toppings that you want and serve.
Cafe Au Lait
What you need:
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp honey
- 1/2 cup freshly brewed strong coffee
To make:
Heat the milk and honey in a small saucepan on medium-low heat until it reaches a boil. Then pour the mixture into a blender and beat until it is nice and foamy before pouring it over the freshly brewed coffee.
Spiced Milk Tea
What you need:
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp loose organic black tea
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 6 whole green cardamom pods, crushed
- 4 whole cloves
- Dash of nutmeg
- 1 (1 inch) piece fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 4 black peppercorns
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 cups milk
To Make:
Combine the water, cinnamon, tea, cardamom, vanilla, cloves, nutmeg, peppercorns, ginger, and brown sugar in a large saucepan. Bring it to a boil and then cover and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Add the milk and slowly bring it just to a simmer and then remove from heat. Strain the mixture. Pressed on the spices and tea with a spoon to extract all the fragrant liquids. Makes three cups. Serve hot or cold.
